Owners of the most polluting cars and vans have to pay a daily fee of £12.50 when in the zone.There is a different charge called the Low Emission Zone starting from £100 a day for heavier vehicles which don't meet certain emissions standards.TfL said the zone will cover an extra five million people, taking in the outer London boroughs which suffer the greatest number of deaths from pollution.
Transport officials predict the policy will mean that outer London will experience a reduction in 27,000 tonnes of CO2; a fall in nitrogen oxides from cars and vans by 10% and 7% respectively; and a cut in PM2.5 car exhaust emissions by nearly 16%.There will also be a £110m scheme to encourage those on certain benefits, charities and disabled people, to apply for grants of up to £2,000 to scrap non-compliant cars or motorcycles.
Environmental groups are delighted, but the RAC has described it as"a hammer-blow for desperate drivers and businesses already struggling with crippling fuel costs". And the Federation of Small Businesses said the ULEZ expansion will"leave many small firms in a precarious position". Meanwhile growing anger about the role of fossil fuels in climate change has triggered a series of disruptive protests in and around London by the campaign group

So famillies & small businesses now hv 2 pay most expensive fuel, car tax, parking permits & expensive shoddy car parks & now got 2 pay 2 go food shopping. Trains unreliable & most expensive in Europe as r buses & roads so full of potholes tyres & chassis ruined. They hate us.

While it prevents people from outside London even contemplating going into the suburbs to support local businesses, it does not stop the current inmates of London getting out.

Tax on the air you breath, and forced into buying a duff 40k electric car. Gets you in debt, the state own you. Same goes for your house. You’ll own nothing. Be poor. 2 tier country. Elite and peasants.
So not only has the price of petrol/diesel have gone up costing workers extra money now we have to add another £12.50 a day.. maybe sadiq khan needs to live on a normal household wage for a couple of years to realise what pressure he’s putting on people..
If it's a law you can get around by paying more then it's a law for the poor only.
