Ukraine should openly disengage itself from NATO as NATO is what Putin thinks as threat.NATO would do nothing for Ukraine in case of war as we can see what poor Ukrainians have only is wooden guns for defence.

Not so odd in that region. During the siege of Stalingrad in WWII, Russian troops were issued with one rifle between two troops. So when the first one with the rifle was killed or injured, the second would take over and use it. Tough neighbourhood.
It’s not about terrifying Putin, it’s about training. We used (and still do) use wooden rifles cut to scale in the British Army for training purposes.
