'Russia could have steamrolled Ukraine'
NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said Finland would be welcomed and that the accession would be"smooth and swift".Please use Chrome browser for a more accessible video playerRussia's EU ambassador also insisted the war in Ukraine - or its"special military operation" as it calls it -"was proceeding according to schedule" but was"not as quick as some people would have wanted".
"Had Russian army followed the pattern of US and other Western countries, we would have steamrolled Ukraine several times by now," Mr Chizhov told Sky News. He claimed Russia never intended to capture Ukrainian territory but that it only wanted to provide"security" for self-proclaimed breakaway republics and demilitarise the country.
Finland are ice warriors, they will not be taken. Sweden citizens are the best trained partisans in the world ,and are trained very early to defend their country. Massive losses to Russia if they try it on.
somebody call the Whambulace 👶🏼👶🏼👶🏼
Come on Vlad, Have a think about it🙄
Respond to what? What are you responding to?
Russian activity is shocking and Putin should face a war-trails court, but NATO is a relic of the Cold War and has no place in the modern world. One country can choose to defend another (from invasion) without being part of a club. Who have NATO been battling the last 30 years🤷♂️
Russia feeling that they have to invade a country that was doing fine without them, murder and bomb innocent people traumatise an entire generation Surely they cant be surprised that others sharing a border with Russia would feel vulnerable. But hey thats what putin wants terror
Russia trying to tell other countries what to do and u don't expect them to join nato for protection Russians are stupid they msde nato 10 times stronger by invading Ukraine lol
Once again, Russia makes threats against sovereign nations who are going about their own business! And how will Russia 'respond' Are they going to attack Finland and Sweden too? Bullies do what bullies do until they get a smack on the nose!
Poor baby Russia.
Think Finland & Sweden should hold for a time…
BethRigby How? By sinking more of their own ships?
If it’s a good idea to join nato I think Russia should open their base in Mexico and Cuba 🇨🇺
What has it got to do with Russia....
Simo Hayha
When you cannot handle Ukraine STOP 🛑 even thinking of invading another country. The biggest problem right now is Putin and his regimes and not Russia.
vladimirchizhov BorisJohnson Bolster with what? The army of Russia and it’s decent kit are slowly being destroyed in the fields of Ukraine!
America doing what they do best. Trying to start ww3 so they can pick the pockets of your dead children.
What you would expect from an organisation full of russian sympathisers. The UK found Murdoch not fit to hold a tv licence. Australia and the United States have found this out to their detriment.
Peace not war.
Don't understand Finland's move.
So Russia would act after they became NATO members, thereby triggering Article 5 & demonstrating why they want to join in the first place.
See, mr Chizov: bolster your DEFENCES as much as you want, go and build a literal wall out of tanks if you wish. As long, as those defences stay on YOUR side of the border. That's how civilised world works.
'Russia would have to respond if they become members' I'd like to see you try, bitch
NATO is not about the power as Russia puts it. It's about protecting the freedom and rights of NATO countries from countries that use war to annex land .It gives a country a chance to peacefully negotiate terms without threat of violence .
I hope it’s just sanctions, because it would be a bad idea to attack a NATO Member.
Remember Cuba? Yeah, well that's how Russia feels about Finland and Sweden.
