UK universities test online teaching for students in China - which will require material to comply with Chinese internet restrictions

But in a separate essay published by the Higher Education Policy Institute, Professor Kerry Brown of King's College London cautioned of the risk of universities adopting"self-censorship" when engaging with China.

The technical solution, provided free by the Chinese internet firm Alibaba Cloud, creates a virtual connection between the student in China and the online network of the UK university, where the course is being taught. Any online information used in these UK university courses will have to be on a"security 'allow' list, which will list all the links to the educational materials UK institutions include in their course materials", said JISC.

JISC, which is an online services provider, says such issues are for the universities - and that"all course materials have been within regulations. Nothing was altered or blocked".Universities have feared that the pandemic could reduce overseas student numbers

That's terrible. It means they are building their Great FireWall in UK now.

Soon the whole world will be China and not just the democrats.

isn't the whole point to come to the UK to study?

Guess they won’t be studying politics then.....

No backbone. 🤦🏿‍♂️

Maybe more local students will be able to get into top unis. Some engineering courses have 52% foreign students and 49% local. Yet we are short of engineers. Because they leave! A*AA grades nearly impossible to achieve in state schools. Maybe a handful or so.

But they are in the uk so there should be no restrictions.

It’s the history books with 50% redacted I’m looking forward to. At least the woke left will be happy. Chinese Emperors has thousands of slaves. Just saying...

If educated in Britain or by British institutions then only British restrictions should apply. Educate British youngsters first then you wouldn’t need to import Chinese students.

Thats disgusting and racist to the Chinese people in the UK will racist never end your meant to help them and protect them

Bloody Commies!

That restricts the on-line teaching to science only then and not the humanities. China require many countries to pledge allegiance to China.

So long education. Hello re-education. What's next, special camps on campus for dissidents?

Not good.

Time the world learnt to live without a reliance on China. Too many eggs in one basket as shown by this epidemic.

Are you fucking joking me?

Compliance with Chinese laws and regulations, no problem, absolute freedom of speech does not exist

Let the Chinese roll back to China!

If these universities cannot survive without Chinese students, then I can see no reason to let them open.

No way

Shame on these Universities for accepting communist intervention on their agenda. It’a allabout money isn’t it? Doesn’t matter how they earn it as long as it still coming in.

Yeah, and we are going to be trading with this lot, I think not, I for one will be checking for made in China

Oh no

they have to travel to KL to take tests

🖕🏻Communist China

So a system already rife with plagerism and forgery Will now go 100% online, what could possibly go wrong?

Yeah, f**k the Great Firewall.

Well it won't be long before the CCP will be hacking into university servers then if they give Chinese 'students' access. Fools.

Shame on UK Universities. Money buys even the intelectual 'elite'.
