Many FTSE 100 companies are failing to advance women’s boardroom careers, report says

Some of Britain’s biggest companies appear to be recruiting female directors for their symbolic value and then failing to advance their boardroom careers, a report has claimed.

But I thought that's what quotas were all about?

Biberbach Two of our partners in our wee firm of six are woman. Just happened.. They ride motorbikes, like adventure sports, are multi lingual and have no ego. Perfect fit with our ethos tbh. Why only a third? Good questions so I guess the answer is why not?

That's one way of closing the gender gap expeditiously. As long as the ladies are held to the same standards of their male counterparts(e.g. if they perform poorly, they get fired/sacked), this isn't a real issue.

How else do you fulfill a symbolic quota?

Aren't all directors for symbolic value?
