UK coronavirus live: Johnson U-turns on masks as experts fear up to 120,000 Covid-19 winter deaths

The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has welcomed government’s U-turn on making face coverings mandatory in shops in England. Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, he said the evidence from experts was the measure could make a “massive difference” in helping to tackle coronavirus.

The government should be preparing to avoid a winter 2nd wave by requiring improved ventilation standards and the installation of UV lights in public transport, shops and other public spaces to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Cannot get my head around the fact that excess deaths are below normal ( BBC Today), yet somehow wearing a mask today, stops a second wave of a mutated virus in six months time. Boris is a clown.
