Government announces emergency relief package as 300,000 made homeless by blast

The money is part of an emergency relief package announced on Wednesday that includes specialist medical teams and NHS experts, search and rescue crews and additional support for the Lebanese armed forces.

UK pledges £5 million in aid. That should cover the lunch for 3 days for the 300,000 displaced.

A pathetically small amount, I assume that this is just a token gesture and more will be given. After all this govt has taken the budget from aid dept, given it to the foreign office, so in these unprecedented times, the sixth largest economy must find more than £5 million.

Nice gesture by the UK.However,what Lebanon wants is aid not rescue teams because Lebanese themselves can do that.

Don't send any money ! our corrupted politicians, who caused this catastrophe in first place, will steal the money. Keep your money and send food and medical aid please 🙏🏻
