THE United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a popular sunshine hotspot, particularly in the winter months. However, in recent months terrorists have issued a series of 'threatening statements', sparking the Foreign Office to update its travel advice with a warning to UK holidaymakers.

The most recent terrorist attack in the UAE took place in Abu Dhabi in 2014, when Kindergarten teacher Ibolya Ryan was murdered.Though the FCDO reports threats, attacks in Dubai - one of the most popular tourist spots in the Emirates - are extremely rare.
