Reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RACC) is a lightweight but reinforced concrete that contains air bubbles and an investigation found two hospitals in Lancashire have been affected

Two Lancashire hospitals have been deemed a 'ticking time bomb' that could 'collapse and it could cost a hefty chunk to repair them.'

Data obtained by the Mirror shows the number of NHS buildings that do have RAAC and two of them are here in Lancashire. Blackpool Victoria Hospital has two blocks made of RAAC as does the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital. A number of the hospitals are made “nearly exclusively” of the dangerous concrete, according to Mid Cheshire Hospitals Foundation Trust chief executive James Summer, whilst others just have a few buildings in jeopardy.Other NHS hospitals and health centres affected:

RAAC is weaker than traditional concrete Matthew Byatt, President Elect of the Institution of Structural Engineers told the Mirror.
