Travel firm Tui sees 145% jump in holiday bookings for next summer

Travel firm Tui has seen a sharp jump in bookings for 2021 as customers make early plans for next year.News of a bounce-back came as Tui posted a €1.1bn loss for the three months to June as lockdown brought the travel industry to a halt.In late July, the company said it would. Bookings plunged 81% for this summer and are 40% lower for a scaled-back winter programme.

And the industry's hopes of saving the rest of this summer were dealt a blow with new restrictions travel to Spain, and growing worries that France could be put on a quarantine list.it was now seeing"encouraging signs of customer demand" as travel restrictions globally start to ease. Tui also said it had agreed compensation with aircraft maker Boeing over the prolonged grounding of 737 Max planes.

The travel firm is to receive"staggered" compensation over the next two years, credits against future orders and a deferral of 61 aircraft deliveries. The exact amount of compensation has not been disclosed.

Tui are withholding refunds! Don’t book with Tui!!!

we will take your money because youre going no where

Looks like the government are doing everything possible to keep Britons in the uk and spending here

🤣🤣 people are not going anywhere next year, you think this is bad now next year this country will be unrecognizable, the untested vaccines not going to make things go back to normal like you were promised all them months ago, but hey you carry on being sheep and we will see

Near zero anything is an increase. It is not news, interesting, informative or a true comparison unless the same exact situation occurs again.

Well it sounds good but percentages mean nothing. 145% increase on what?

How many of those were people who have moved there cancelled holiday this year to next ?

Good news not allowed on the BBC .

Percentages in this situation with this year being such a low base don't mean much. If they had one booking this year and 3 bookings next year that's an increase of 200%.

Why didn’t you report this on national radio news? Very happy to report figures of drop in sales due to COVID 19. Then mention that a rise for next year, but no mention in figures. You must ring your hands in glee, how many can we worry today with the news. Put in the POSITIVES

Let's she how long the good news last as they still owe thousands of people millions of pounds. And for a company to be happy having loads of CCJ because they are ignoring the courts and not paying people back what they owe them. Is disgusting.

What total bullshit.. lots of people forced to defer to next year rather than challenge for a refund!!!

Not when the prices are 30/40 % more expensive than this year I’m not !

That's going to be a lot of refunds!!! positivethinking

So from 1 person booking in 2020 , we’ve now got 2 people and a dog . The economy is saved!

That’s good news but what are they going to do from now until next summer?

Haven’t they heard about the new normal?. This social and economic experiment is only going to get worse.

What recession?🤷🏼‍♂️

lol I hope everyone booked with a credit card.

Optimistic

Vs this year?
