'The village idiot is in front of the camera!' Tory MP Andrew Bridgen has been roasted by protesters during a live interview on Newsnight.

A Newsnight interview went awkwardly haywire when a protester savagely heckled a Conservative MP during a live segment.

Islam attempted to move on despite the interruption from protester Steve Bray, saying: ‘The number of MPs that have gone public though alongside you are still in single figures… I understand you’ve got a bit of a distraction on College Green, but I understand that it’s still in single figures.’ As the minister awkwardly continued the interview, the protester suddenly appeared on screen behind Mr Bridgen, holding placards that read: ‘What a crock of s**t,’ and ‘Get your Johnson out of our democracy.’Mr Bridgen branded the protester a ‘village idiot’ Islam later ‘apologised for the language displayed behind you there’ in reference to the expletives seen on Bray’s signs.

Sky News host recalls daughter’s death during Tory ‘partygate’ interviewTrevor Phillips holds back tears as he asks Tory chair Oliver Dowden if PM understands why people are angry Very brave commentary. I commend Trevor Philips for his self-restraint in the face of such BS. Many more suffered the same sacrifice, loss and helplessness in trying to do the right thing. Shame on the great pretenders who set a good example for all and follow a bad one.
