A woman snorkelling on Ningaloo Reef, on the north-west coast of Western Australia, has become the third person to be injured by a humpback whale there in less than a week.
Wtf man why is that even allowed
Headline remix;..Three dickheads injured swimming with whales in Australia in a space of a week.
They were too close -again. The whales are immense, beautiful creatures. Ban tourist swimming trips -only whale watching from boats
Simple solution, stay out of the water and leave the bloody things alone, perhaps they don’t want to be part of a land mammals silly games
Don’t swim with whales then..... simples👍
Leave these animals alone. We don't belong in there.
What would possess a person to swim with what's that size? You might as well play in traffic.
Why do humans believe we have the right to invade their homes, use artificial breathing aids to be in their environment? Then complain that it isn’t all without risk 100% of the time? Leave them alone and let them be. Watch from a safe distance and don’t mess with their kids!
Swim with your own species!
Having a whale of a time
They were treated as members of the pack obvs
For reference Blue whales are the largest animals ever known to have lived on Earth. These magnificent marine mammals rule the oceans at up to 100 feet long and upwards of 200 tons.Their tongues alone can weigh as much as an elephant.Their hearts, as much as an automobile. Natl G
Maybe stop messing with whales.
Erm, they are wild animals, what did they expect? respectnature
Erm, they are wild animals, what did they expect?
Human arrogance.
Just 3?
They’re probably too close to them especially if the whales are with calves. They should have taken safe distance considering that these are whales with calves that have their protective mode on all the time.
Just any human or animal a Mom Protection of its child or little is always a safe guard distance who forgot
Well that 'trial' is going well..... might need to review the 'recomnended distance between snorkellers & the whales'. Clearly some people don't know how far '75m' is!!!
Is The Guardian becoming another Darwin Awards account now?
Silly women.
People should leave whales the f*ck alone.
Swimming with whales was never a good idea especially if they have calves with them. You want to see whales, watch them from a headland!
Terrible idea. 'Humpback whale swimming encounters in the Ningaloo marine park are expected to become a permanent licensed industry in 2021 at the completion of a five-year trial that is being monitored by the department'.
It is a bad piece of news, but the good part is that no one was killed. We should get along well with animals on the earth so that we can gain something from them with which we can develop something. We develop planes from the way the birds fly and radar from bats.
Whale masks'll sort this problem out.
Why.
I'm mildly surprised that there aren't more injuries.
Women sure are wreckless.
When you go swimming with a pod of 60,000+ pound humpback whales, you deserve what you get.
