Thomas Cook staff begin legal action over job losses

Claire Hoang, who is part of the legal action, said:"I woke up on Monday with no job. I've lost that month's income. I've also had over £700 of expenses I'll never get back," she told the Victoria Derbyshire show.

"We were told there was a recapitalisation in the works - and that it was quite simple and always happen. Then last week the message changed. The deal was still a game changer, but there will be a lot of noise in the media and we should ignore it. One Thomas Cook flight was in the air when the company went into liquidation, only for the crew to land and discover they no longer had jobs.

"Some people say this might not be a lot of money," says Aneil Balgobin, employment lawyer at Simpson Millar.

Who are they suing? The company has no assets and no longer exists.

I feel for the staff, but what do they want? The company is bust.

Legal action? The company went under you cannot get what’s not there.

I believe the Governments should try to help the Thomas Cook People who have lost their Jobs. I hope they all get Jobs and sued The Big Greedy Bosses. I know now Universal Credit is the new Benefit they will have to claim. I know it take about 6 Weeks to they get Benefit

Blood out of a stone

The same staff that carried on taking peoples money even though they knew what was coming !

Seems unfair that some may get pay-puts and not all. As for the young man taking the job, just before the collapse, no sympathy for him - he should have done his home work or waited until refinancung had been secured.

Staff say Thomas Cook failed in their duty to keep them informed... Oh the irony

Waste of time, they’ve gone into administration, these idiots won’t see a penny

Remember a female staff member there being unbelievably rude and unhelpful when i tried to book a holiday to Florida a few years ago. By far the worst customer service ive ever received. I hope she is unemployed and homeless 'cause of this. Ha.
