We spoke to graduate designer Violette Villeneuve about her best and worst experiences at CSM, what inspired her collection and how sustainability is the only viable future for fashion 🌎

on her psychological graduate collection that interlinks through traces, lines and marks how the baggage we all carry is integral to each of our individual identities. "There is a certain mobility of feeling and expression when wearing my garments. It's really about the exteriorisation of the internal experiences we collect through life, from the most painful to the most cherished memories.

Her ballooning designs, at times, showcase these dark memories in bulbous black growths, or in other instances camouflage them withing hidden pockets or secretive holes. But why has the human psyche become such a focal point of her voluminous designs? "I am always trying to understand, analyse and fix things, and people around me. I have this need of rebuilding what is destroyed, or broken. Trying to see things from other angles is my little personal therapy I guess.

LOVE spoke to the graduate designer on her best and worst experiences at CSM, what inspired her collection and how sustainability is the only viable future for fashion.You just graduated from CSM where you were studying womenswear. Can you tell us about your graduate collection? What were the main inspirations?My inspiration stems from the idea that how we are today is defined by what we have experienced in the past; on both psychological and physical levels.
