Former interpreters fear for their lives after the UK blocks their evacuation on security grounds.

Sheltering in a hideout on the outskirts of Kabul, Abdul says he is waiting for the day he is found and killed by the Taliban.

Their supporters in the UK are calling for them to be given the opportunity to have their cases reviewed and have criticised the lack of transparency around the decisions. When officials from the UK's Ministry of Defence told him in July he was eligible to relocate, Abdul was relieved. Abdul, a UN employee who also worked for the British embassy and for the Afghan government after leaving the army, was shocked by the decision.

After hearing rumours that Taliban fighters were carrying out door-to-door searches, Abdul fled Kabul in late August with his family. "I'm trying to do anything to get out of this situation. But we don't know where to go," he says.Another rejected interpreter, Sayed, has built a makeshift hideout in the bushes behind his home.

Sayed was perplexed. "What is my sin?" he asks. "That I worked shoulder to shoulder with the British? I have no crime, I am not a criminal, I have done nothing wrong." "That is why thorough checks are taking place by government, our world-class intelligence agencies and others and if someone is assessed as presenting as a risk to our country, we will take action."

"For every day that passes, the danger rises for the people we've promised to help," he said. "There will be legitimate reasons why some cases are refused, but transparency as far as possible in the decision-making process will be important to avoid urgent cases falling through the cracks.

National security risks. So good don't let them in. What's wrong with the BBC? DefundTheBBC

Isn't that the fate of collaborators who betray their countrymen?

So reading the article I find these are people who were sacked whilst in the job and whom are deemed a security risk and yet to the BBC they should be allowed to come to the U.K.

So he was refused on 'national security' grounds & ppl are still actively pursuing hes still comes?🤔 And then when terrorist attacks happen by people intelligence agencies r already suspicious of, everyone then asks why was it allowed to happen 🤷‍♂️ Anyway, will leave this here..

Nuclear fusion: Five sites shortlisted for UK energy plantFive sites in England and Scotland in final running to be home of UK's prototype fusion energy plant Sandringham? Why not put one on each of the sites. We certainly need them. I'm appalled that the Scottish site is even under consideration. We need to stop investing there until the SNP abandons all their independence nonsense and disbands.
