Initially applied to buildings with more than 10 windows, the tax was later extended to include those with seven or more. The tax was intended to be progressive, as the least wealthy would, in theory, live in smaller houses with fewer windows. However, in urban areas, poorer people commonly lived in large tenement buildings, which, regardless of how they were subdivided, were considered to be a single dwelling and subject to heavy tax.image copyrightThe lack of light and ventilation is thought to have greatly affected people's health and wellbeing and allowed epidemics to quickly spread.

There horrible.
Or just to save paying window tax!
A window tax. A Window Tax. Window Tax Nah. I can’t even think of anything else. That’s just insane.
I don't understand why some new builds have fake bricked up windows or why so many property owners didn't reinstate windows when the tax was repealed. The beautiful symmetry of many Georgian buildings is lost due to the window tax.
Just nonsense
Dang! Poverty mate welcome to Britain hood ghetto
Thought that particular tax was banished long ago
Unless you’re a vampire living in those…
