A poll of 2,000 UK workers found that these are among the most important things needed for a job to be ideal. Other key factors include regular reviews and pay rises, a day off on your birthday, and free hot drinks. Also beneficial: a pleasant view from the office window, friendly colleagues, a good location, and 29 days of holiday a year.The survey was commissioned by Raja Workplace, which sells office equipment, so – unsurprisingly – those surveyed also said they’d like a neat, clean workplace, with 71% saying that how their office is organised affects their productivity.
But while bosses might be tempted by the easy fix of buying some new office chairs, the truth is that work-based happiness relies on factors beyond what the office looks like.
