Maybe it should be just one evening of furious voting, broadcast live on Sky News, says Jonn Elledge, former assistant editor of the New Statesman

The Labour leadership race is just entering its fourth decade. It is due to finish around the time the sun collapses into a black hole. OK, we’re three months in and it ends on 4 April, but time flies when you’re having fun, and quite obviously we aren’t.

Why dont you ask Boris the same question?

Because Labour is dull. Corpses so often are.

Because no one is remotely interested. Their finished. It's only about best paid job within the party now.

It's about time politics was dull again, to be honest. It's only exciting when something's gone badly wrong.

Mosts likely because all 3 candidates are desperately dull. Also at this moment in time Labour doesn't really matter, there kind of irrelevant.

Labour are to liberal now . No way their factory floor voters agree with 95% of the bollox they come out with now. But. They keep thinking having a northern accent is all you need to win them over.

Going forward, these leadership contests need to be much shorter. Whether the party creates an App for members or some other strategy, it needs to be much shorter. Lib Dems could just go to a pub and agree amongst themselves; they probably won't.

I dunno, Jonn. Maybe you need to stop thinking of politics as entertainment

Why do you feel politics and politicians have to be exciting? Perhaps try bungee jumping for excitement and leave perceived entertainment value out of elections.

Because it’s far too bloody long !

It's....too....long....to....choose...a....leader, that's why.

By ‘dull’ do you mean not giving the press a couple juicy sound bites they can use? Because it’s being conducted with decorum?

The race doesn't matter. The result does.

Because it's been going on for months and still has more than a month left to go?

Labour leadership candidates turn on each other over antisemitism action in Sky News debateIn heated exchanges, the contenders question whether their rivals had been as outspoken as they should have been in past years. So, the only thing they agree on, is that whatever was said in those shadow cabinet meetings, about antisemitism, was so distasteful, that if they were open about it now, there wouldn’t be a party left to lead. They have learnt nothing. It makes me sick! I’ve recorded it yet to watch in full, but none of those 3 give me hope of bringing labour out of the gutter, while communist Corbyn was in charge with his team they went down&down,no coming back not with any of those 3,Starmer Bailey won’t get rid of anti Semitism bullying etc etc That's what I like to see, labour unity.

Strange as it may seem, Keir Starmer could be the British Bernie Sanders | Patrick MaguireThe Labour leadership frontrunner aims to emulate Sanders by building a diverse coalition. But it won’t be easy, says political correspondent Patrick Maguire joeIjoeIjoel ? Bernie Sanders has done nothing of the sort. There is but token diversity in his base of support.
