An easy response is to say that sport is high-profile theatre subject to wild emotions. Players and officials have been insulted throughout history. I do not condone any abuse online...but most of these 'stars' are paid to promote rubbish on thier feeds.

The job falls on all social media platforms, sports associations, MSM companies, sports directors, managers and TV companies to support those abused and accused. All have given into and given power to the fringe social media mob that really doesn't matter in all walks of life.

Social media isn't compulsory.

Take away the anonymity for a lot of the social media keyboard warriors and you'll see a huge decline in online abuse.

My heart goes out to all the poor poor sports stars, it must be so hard for them.
