Editorial: Theresa May has put no deal firmly back on the table in flagrant defiance of parliament and the dictates of responsible government

To achieve anything in EU diplomacy it helps to speak European. That does not require a command of continental languages. What matters, when dealing at the highest level in Brussels, is an ability to acknowledge the common political and economic interests that underpin the whole European project.

longsight9a Guardian. Just. Can't. Do. It. Point to Labour's compromise.

ProfBrianCox and to think that a short time ago, articles lauded her 'resiliency' and 'strength in the face of opposition'!

ProfBrianCox

ProfBrianCox She's been Weak and Wobbly from day one in that job. Never at any time have I look at her with any level of confidence that she could get the job done and clearly the EU leaders think the same. Hopeless.

Mishandled Brexit situation. Incompetence, humiliation, chaos, words that easily spring to mind to describe this government's handling of negotiations. Isn't it time for PM to resign?

ProfBrianCox theresa_may is the most incompetent politician I have come across. She makes Trump look like a bona fide genius.

ProfBrianCox But by agreement with the Democratic decision!!

It's the media like you being anti brexit to blame with constant garbage like Falling off a cliff edge and doom scenarios if we leave on WTO terms.

Maybe it’s giving her more credit than deserved, but that ‘one two’ exchange throws the same deal back at parliament and the speaker. She really doesn’t know how to even consider changing track or direction

ProfBrianCox A remarkably accurate portrait of the political ineptitude of politicians adrift in a stormy sea. This is the perilous journey of a child driver, foot wedged in fear over the accelerator, driving the wrong way on the M25 at peak hour. Tory’s denial, incompetence and recklessness.

ProfBrianCox What was Theresa May reasonably expecting to achieve in a short meeting before making a public statement, other than to gather them all together before publicly shaming them. Her actions are untrustworthy, calculated and devisive - she's now resorted to creating tabloid headlines

ProfBrianCox The only leverage she has is the simple truth that the only person in Westminster that wants her job right now is Jeremy Corbyn. Who also by coincidence is the only person in the country that couldn’t get it.

She's just really dim-witted.

ProfBrianCox People may have some sympathy for TM. That she inherited Brexit. Bollocks!! She was so desperate to become PM that she sold her soul to the devil. She campaigned for Remain now she is in the pocket of the ERG, driving us towards the cliff edge of a No Deal Brexit. Not fit to lead

ProfBrianCox No deal should never have been taken off the table. The vote was to leave the EU and that is what the government was asked to deliver. The idea of concocting a 'deal' was a later embellishment created for political profit.

Why are so few genuinely concerned about the meddling by Russia in the referendum?

Sorry about this comment, No Gone f..... Mad

A Prime Minister gone mental, more like.

One can only conclude that theresa_may is in league with her allies, lacks the fortitude for the task, doesn't want to do it, doesn't care what the people NOW want or a combn of these. How anyone cannot see that a long delay to A50 might resolve the problem is THE PROBLEM

MayMustGo

Rogue definition: a dishonest, knavish person; scoundrel. Sounds about right.

What is the point of passing motions saying Parliament does not agree to no deal if you cannot put this into effect in law?

Excellent op ed. The question I keep asking myself is can’t Parliament compel the government to put forward legislation (SI) amending the Withdrawal Act so no deal is prevented.

Rogue PM

This is what happens when the inept are given power beyond their capabilities, theresa_may finds it easy to blame others for the mess she created. Pathetic really!

Theresa May's turn as populist demagogue would have been nauseatingly entertaining if it wasn't for the small fact that we are in the middle of a pretty serious political crisis.

Another mental case - Nigel_Farage - threatens ‘I will do my best to tear her party limb from limb’ Let’s actually see how he does it! UKIP & Tories are both equally responsible for Brexit! Cameron, Boris, Farage & Mogg are all responsible. May is the worst of all. NoBrexit

Brexit BOMBSHELL: Theresa May admits the UK may 'NEVER' leave the EU in SHOCK commentsTHERESA MAY has admitted the UK may not “leave the EU for many months, if ever” if Parliament cannot find a way to back a Brexit deal before the European Council meeting next week, according to reports. Good! I suggest you read all legal paperwork Treason May.. not all 27 states will back an extension of A50... then WTO terms, and good bye 👋 we could enact A1... She shouldn’t be able to decide that. The queen needs to step in and remind her Brexit is signed into U.K. law. We leave 30/3/19. I really hope the EU veto the extension. NoDealReady

How Theresa May, the Prime Minister who vowed to take back control, finally lost it completelyThe day ended about as badly as it had begun, with the Prime Minister forced at the last minute to whip against a Government no deal motion she had vowed to support only hours earlier. May keeps saying the deal, but no one asks what is in the deal! Would you sign a deal or contract and not know what is in it? She may have lost it but no one else won either? The whole lot from all parties at Westminster have made a mess of brexit ever since the referendum They are all so toast.

Editorial: Bercow’s glorious revolution scuppers May – and edges us ever closer to a Final Say referendumIf we wish to resolve matters relatively swiftly, the Commons could choose now to pass May’s deal with the addition of it being approved by a second public vote – the current Kyle-Wilson amendment And with this situation you would think jeremycorbyn would be taking the lead and taking his electorate forward , I must be dreaming Back of the net It's unlikely we'll be leaving the EU. We are not economically in a strong enough position to have industry and jobs go overseas such as Nissan in Sunderland to name but many. We'll be now better off staying in even though I was one of the many brexiteers.

Inside Politics: Is Brexit vote third time lucky for Theresa May?THERESA May heads to Brussels next week to take what should have been her final walk along the red carpet into the EU Council's Europa Building, at least as a leader of one of the bloc's member states. Even if she won, how could she possibly continue leading the next phase of the negotiations? I expect the hard Brexiteers will want to take over. Not looking forward to that.
