Michael Balogun was serving a jail sentence when he was allowed to work on licence in the kitchens at RADA, the famous drama school, where his acting talents were discovered.
He has since gone on to forge a successful career as an actor, which reached a high point this summer when the National Theatre asked him to step-up from being the understudy to taking the lead role in a new play called Death of England: Delroy.Michael and the writers spoke to the BBC's Arts Editor, Will Gompertz.

I've just watched Michael Balogun's excellent performance in Death of England: Delroy. I walked a few steps in another person's shoes. Compelling and brilliant. It's available until 7pm tonight via the National Theatre's website. Watch it and donate.

The BBC has a habit of doing this, a person living a blemish free life, fulfilling their civic duties and abiding but he law and society’s expectation, will never be featured. A scumbag heroin dealer rises to leading normal life and it’s front page news. 🤷♂️
What was his crime?
Just read his bio and he was a drug dealer who robbed women on the streets, stealing their money and handbags, so please explain what point you’re making and why it’s my fault? Yours, a law abiding tax payer.
