“We are not concerned with the wider political issues which form the context for this legal issue” The UK Supreme Court begins hearing the two appeals over Parliament’s suspension, making clear the hearings are not about Brexit

There are no end of stories about what the prime minister will do if the Supreme Court upholdsthat the manner in which he closed down Parliament was unlawful. He will certainly face enormous pressure to resign if he is found to have lied to the Queen.

All Mr Johnson has said about today is that we should wait for the outcome. His legal team’s submissions go further. The papers state that if the justices rule against Mr Johnson, “…the prime minister will take the necessary steps to comply with the terms of any declaration made by the court”. What that means in practice is speculation - because it depends on what the court explicitly says. The justices could tell the PM to “retake” the decision of how he advised the Queen. How and when MPs would then return to work, in that scenario, would obviously be rather unclear.

BBCPolitics Keen as mustard. BravoBoris

'well politicians of old started it, so it, so it must be ok!'

BBCPolitics It is about Brexit though. That's the whole point. It is obvious parliament has been prorogued because of Brexit. Ignoring that means the prorogation was lawful. Oh well. Kinda guessed this would be the case, but I still thought our law worked on a case by case basis?

BBCPolitics But the whole basis of the case is about Remaining in the EU. If they wanted to leave they would have voted for a deal. Irrelevant case as it’s on the basis of one political view over another political view! If they want to change it, hold an election! simples

Don’t take all day, the answer obvious . No
