'As soon as someone walks through the store without a mask or a lanyard showing they're exempt, it automatically makes me uneasy' Supermarket staff speak out about their worries of catching Covid

"As soon as someone walks through the store without a mask or a lanyard showing they're exempt, it automatically makes me uneasy."

Arron's worked at a supermarket in Wrexham for seven years. He loves his job, his colleagues and his regular customers."There are people who work and shop in supermarkets who still have a fear of catching Covid - me being one of them," he says. "It really does bother me."Arron's store's policy is not to order customers to wear masks.

"We can ask them if they'd like a mask, but when they just walk past us, often not socially distancing, it's rude and it puts everyone around them at risk," he says. Legally, it's the job of police to enforce mask wearing but government guidelines say shops should "encourage" it. It's also up to individual shops if they want to refuse people entry without one."I'd love to be able to tell them to wear a mask or even refuse them entry to the store," he says.image copyright

Whatever your view on masks - i think we can all agree that we feel safer when those around us are wearing them - why would anyone want to upset others by not wearing one, it's like going out in public without bathing - inconsiderate & selfish-think of others, have some honour

Tesco employee here: We don't give a shit if you wear a mask or not.

You could get another job. You could ask to be in non-customer facing role. You could isolate. If you’re wearing a mask and you believe it works...what’s the issue? You could wrap yourself in cotton wool. You could do some research and learn the truth then you’d not be scared 🤷🏻‍♀️

Masks have no effect they not going to stop the virus wake up they are the most stupidest things ever

Then stay home and hide under your beds

I work in a supermarket and during lockdown nobody wore masks so this doesn't make sense.

The media is the virus

Bollocks, when we had the 1st so called outbreak, hardly anyone was wearing them in supermarkets. Did we have mass outbreaks among supermarket staff around the country. Did we fuck.

More sensationalist nonsense.. there hasn’t been an outbreak amongst any supermarkets in the Country throughout the whole process.. bearing in mind they have never closed? So realistically supermarkets should be Covid hotbeds shouldn’t they? 🤔🙄 how strange eh?

Let me get this straight. Scared of someone not wearing a mask. Not scared if they have a card round their neck? Understood.

Tough

🙄 Project Fear now targeting the supermarket staff...

Should have resigned back in March if that's what he felt. Had numerous chats in my local supermarkets & hardly any one has been off sick throughout this madness. But they're now unhappy with having to wear muzzles for 8 hours!

Hope one of you idiots reading all the comments to restart your critical thinking 🤣🤣🤣🤣 DefundBBC

I meet 35x5 students every day and none of them wears a masks in the classroom...

🤦‍♀️the news these days...

SCRIPTURES OF THE DAY. 1 Timothy 1:6 For this reason I remind you to stir up like a fire the gift of GOD that is in you through the laying of my hands on you.

brendagotobed Ok so stay at home and do not leave it !!

EQUALITIES ACT 2010 The reason some feel uneqsy is because of the constant propaganda. Thanks to this, we have taken equality back decades. Remember, if these people COULD wear a mask, they WOULD. They do not want whatever illness or disability prevents them from doing so.

I actually felt safer when we were practicing social distancing without masks. Now people wearing masks are up close and personal, and that includes retail staff.

So we need to wear a badge to tell the world of our mental or physical problems? It’s the same as you doing your job naked, with everything on show.

More government propaganda. And you wonder why do many people are cancelling their license that you can't cope with the deluge. You should be sued for trying to undermine the Equality Act.

So what? The unqualified, absolute fact that masks don't work in non-clinical settings definitely doesn't care about your feelings.

Bs!! I know lots of people who work in supermarkets & talk to lots of staff. I’ve not met one yet who wants to wear one or is worried about others not wearing one. Our local Morrisons have had 1 case & they are fine.

Makes me uneasy to see people wearing masks causes me distress which thankfully leads to exemption

Why does a lanyard stop them feeling uneasy? Does it stop viruses?

And many supermarket staff would love to speak out who say they are not worried - people are becoming slowly unhinged and the chains are tightening - come on folks, let’s stay sane then safe

Will you publish an article about the discrimination, bullying and exclusion those with health, disability or neurological conditions are facing as a result of people assuming we just 'don't want to' wear masks? I'd suggest part of your public service duty to report on this...

Funny that, because there wasn't many supermarket workers wearing them before they were made to.

So if they wear a lanyard he feels safe. Amazing safety devices those lanyards. Almost as good as a mask. What a load of crap.

It's natural to be scared. Those people who don't wear masks are the dumbest people and waste of oxygen. Must be kicked out from the store.

This is probably right as placebos can make you feel better if you think they work. Uncontrolled government propaganda at play on suggestionable minds.

SpreadCOVID your feelings are stupid.

What's with these people who wear a mask over their mouth, but under their nose? Do they think they are being clever, getting one over? It just shows stupidity, doing no good at all.

Because a lanyard keeps you safe.

I work in a care home we wear masks all day, for 12 hrs all day end of, in very warm temperatures, you get used to it. So going into a shop wearing one is no problem, in fact I come out the shop and forget to take it off. I've had Covid and don't want it again.

We're did you find that labour activist😝🤔🤔

Bloody hell none of u even wore a mask for 6 months during a pandemic and now your crying lol one infected worker can possibly infect every shopper they serve.. But it took a law change for you to wear one 👍👍

Bloody snowflake ❄️

Wah wah propoganda wah wah. Bet you didn't mind having your goods and mail delivered by scary non masked posties though did ya. You know, the ones that handled all your mail, after touching every stair rail, gate, and letterbox of every home In the country.

can dig into new lows every day. Well done chaps DefundTheBBC

I work in a supermarket and it's crazy you get abuse if you ask people to not be to close to you it's selfish. Think how many people we see in a day at work. Please think

Considering that they didn't wear a mask when the death rate was fairly high, this is BOLL*CKS

Give it a rest BBC. Stop trying to condition us.

Let one of those many who've been unlawfully denied a job because they can't wear a mask replace these whiners. People are entitled to exemptions.

what absolute rubbish - when masks we're not mandated I saw about 1% of retail staff wearing them - typical BBC rubbish

Looks like the bbc managed to find the few supermarket workers who are shithouses !!

Now they know how we felt when they didn't wear masks earlier.

More bbc lies

Grow up.

that's why I don't step foot in shops as I am exempt but won't wear a lanyard for a number of reasons

Because mass media manipulates people into being scared and anxious.

Well if they feel so unsafe then they need to mask up glove up and even get a hazmat suit to be safe. Ffs get a grip

But why Does someone wearing a lanyard protect you If so how? How does that work then? What an absolutely ridiculous thing to say. I do wish the BBC wold just fuck off!!

We supposed to care what this goon thinks?

This guy needs to man the fuck up.

He needs to man up then. Big girls blouse. Does he fret about getting struck by lightning if he’s caught in the rain ? Similar odds.

BBC you're getting desperate with your fear mongering headlines now 😂

Must be shitting their pants every year at this time, all those colds and coughs going around!

Give over. No-one was wearing masks when the R0 was around 3 back in March/April. Didn’t see y’all too bothered about shaming people then... 😡

Drip, drip, drip. Well done Pravda

I feel unsafe when pricks like this bedwetter are given mass exposure

There was no mass infection of supermarket staff at the height of the pandemic, before mask-wearing was enforced.

Move to sweden. No covid there.

I work in a supermarket. Me and my staff have been frontline since the very start of this. A handful of colleagues wears masks the rest dont. Not one of us have caught covid

More BBC propaganda...sick of your fearmongering give it a rest..youbstoop as low as you can get

Plenty of supermarket staff who don’t wear them. What a load of old bollocks.

But they weren’t worried from March until July 24th when none were worn? This is Not mentioned in the article. WhyAreTheyDoingThis

... snowflake? I guess we deserve another war at this point ... this is really bad. I can see that coming ...

Stay in the house then. Don’t start crying because nobody else is as scared as you are

Why should people be expected to wear a lanyard? After Covid, should those with unseen disabilities wear a badge listing all of their ailments? Absolute madness. As soon as you say that you're exempt due tona medical condition, that should be the end of it.

I saw 2 in local store yesterday, so I left

Half the staff in my local supermarket don’t wear one or if they do it must be for keeping their chin warm.

Don’t go near them, plus you have a mask on, no problem

Think he needs to get a grip now!!

Isn’t there somewhere safe for him cower ?

They should be encouraged to use curbside pickup.

So of they have an exemption card on a lanyard they spread less germs Really? Wtf

More fear mongering from the bullshit broadcasting company. I started work in a supermarket on the 6th April. Out of approx 300 staff, thousands of customers coming in, one positive member of staff in all that time.

Fake news ffs stop pissing your pants

So your not scared if they wear a lanyard?

What a muppet...😂😂😂😂😂

Never heard so much crap in my life. Are they nee there? I mean it only became law in July. At which point not even staff wore them.

pansy

Wear a bloody mask! God some people are so selfish

Do we know what the stats for cases/deaths in stores was pre the mask rules?.

🤣 Yeah yeah says the pedo gang supporters

Masks have really helped the spread then 🙄

Well if masks work, why would you be scared?

What supermarket them we can complain about him

Im standing in Sainsbury's and see a lot of staff without masks not to mention customers

Irresponsible psychological conditioning like this is the reason people distrust the BBC.

More made up Bullshit from the BBC ... 🙄 barel scraping is wearing rather thin!:

I'd suggest their real problem is too much BBC News.

My daughter, due to disabilities doesn’t wear a mask & neither does she wear a lanyard. A lanyard signals that she has a disability to others which makes her feel uncomfortable & she feels unsafe. The BBC haven’t got a clue how to report fairly anymore as it’s been so long

So just for clarity: No mask on face = makes him feel ‘uneasy’ and at risk No mask but a bit of ribbon round neck = no problem do you not realise how utterly farcical this man’s comment and your subsequent reporting of it is?

He can always close shop

This is disgusting. Now valid exemptions are being attacked by MSM.

Really considering the ones that I know would rather not wear mask & they are not bothered if customers don't wear them.

And it's nice that he thinks people wearing lanyards protect him as well

PattersonCee1 How did he cope from March to the summer?

Some have been brainwashed into thinking a ask offers them protection. They are mostly filthy rags stored in pockets, 🚗 and 👜. They need scrapping now. The only thing they prevent is applying sense.

Lying gets, up until a few weeks ago when they were exempt none, not one of the 50 or so Asda workers were wearing a mask

This is a bugbear if mine as a customer! Supermarket staff at tills are not generally wearing masks as much. Screens are open-ended so why should I be put at added risk when I put £100 of shopping away and I am only a little over a metre from a face without a mask for 10 mins.

Mass Hysteria.

Propaganda Shit

Supermarket staff her never felt uneasy but do feel uncomfortable and uneasy being made to wear a mask so many feel the same where’s the interviews with them?

Utter bollox

more bullshit to ramp up the fear

BBC propaganda brainwashing

Bollocks do they, paid patsy's for scandalous cause.COVIDIOTS Borat China's finest.

Yep i work in hospitality and customers are entitled arseholes, and give no care or consideration to the staff, and treat us as sub-human. Customers cry about wearing a mask for 30 seconds to get seated at their table.

The supermarket workers are not he true hero during this pandemic, working whole through out the pandemic with not much benefit as NHS employee but sadly their contributions not praised as we all busy clapping for NHS for not providing the basic Heath care . Good luck

Literal propaganda

In my experience it's supermarket staff who dont wear masks, not the customers. However, the amount of people wearing their masks under their noses or their chins is very worrying.

Really?! So these same people who worked through the 'peak' without anyone in mask and they survived! Why weren't they campaigning for masks back then huh? Im sure they are jealous of people not in masks who can breathe properly and thats why they might get upset.

The lanyard blocks Covid.

Maybe your mother can put a diaper on you before work so when you piss yourself you can save yourself even more embarrassment.

I just went to Tescos and had to use 'self serve' as no one was on a till. The self service assistant was helping an elderly gent whose mask was below his nose, she was inches from him. I didn't feel great about having to touch all the self serve equipment, come on Tesco, employ.

Why would someone not wearing a lanyard make you feel uneasy? A lanyard doesn't provide some sort of a protective barrier for you. What a ridiculous statement.

The BBC endorsing the labelling of minorities once again. What could go wrong?

Why would you feel safe if someone had a lanyard? Lol.

So basically you're in the wrong job and want to control people and have a bit of power to boost your insecurities 'I'd love to be able to tell them to wear a mask or even refuse them entry to the store,' he says. Bet he's a bundle of fun hitler trafficwarden

Why would you feel any “easier” about someone who is “exempt” not wearing a mask than anybody else not wearing one?

Luckily he has over a 99% chance of survival.

Amazing that hoards of shop assistants aren't dead, isn't it! Been waiting since March for the death toll. fakenews CONVID COVID1984

suecresswell01 Bull st

Exempt from wearing a mask, or exempt from passing on infection? The risk of catching Covid does not change if you carry a piece of paper with some words on.

Well get another job then, I'm sure the men and boys that ran into battle fields felt unsafe and uneasy to give us the freedom of choice we are supposed to have today. Bloody pathetic, give your job to someone who had their smallbusiness ruined should be ashamed COVIDIOTS

Feel as uneasy as they want I don’t give a fuck. They’d soon be moaning if they got laid off due to people not shopping there. Maybe quit and stay inside forever like a little bitch 🤷‍♂️

Total rubbish.. I work in a store and have done all through lockdown .I am exempt (copd) but still worked. Screens at counter..safe distance etc. Just scare mongering

What a fanny

Supermarket's, Shop's & transport operators can lead the fightback on this virus....BUT THEY'VE GOT TO BE STRONG. !!!! ZERO TOLERANCE or nothing. 😷😷😷😷

Bless his cotton socks. Leave your job if u r that bothered simples

I doubt this guy has been watching too much bbc. Irrational fear

I work in a shop and I'm not scared of a 'deadly virus' you have to have a test to see if you have it, p*ssies. Some people are exempt and there getting fined and its not fair on those people, grow a back bone and stop soaking in the MSM propaganda.

All doing as your told 😂😂😂 Get a grip ya bedwetting bunch ffs unbelievable 🤣🤣

The usual coordinated shaming propaganda from the BBC. Most staff hate them. They were deemed unnecessary from all the experts back when it was supposedly raging. The mandating in July, long after the epidemic was over, was purely political.

BBC BS propaganda again masks are useless and are for control no one wore them at the height of the pandemic, only introduced when the curve was flat!!! Have you ever thrown a marble at chain link fence? well it goes right through!! KBF

We done BBC 'Project Fear' is working even though if you think about the so called 'pandemic' rationally it's killed 0.07% of the population with an average age of 82 (life expectancy 81) See what your propaganda is doing to peoples mental health? Shame on you!

Oh please. Stop being so dramatic

Wear two then, you big fairy.

Plenty of supermarket staff don’t wear masks in Wales

You just know this guy crys over soaps.

Needs to stop listening to BBC, itv and c4!

More made up propaganda?

But none of the supermarket workers seem bothered when they huddle at the end of ur checkout for a chat 🤷🏻‍♂️

And yet they ALL survived perfectly well in the height of this without masks 🤔

You should see me when someone with a rucksack walks in, sweating and praying.

Just refuse to serve them. If all shops and supermarkets took that stance, they’d soon have to wear one.

I believe this is yours👍👍

Oh for goodness sake , give it a rest!

This is a disgraceful piece clearly targeting ppl with disabilities and spreading more fear. Who is catching the virus mask wearers or non mask wearers? How many staff have got it since mandatory? tesco sainsburys COVID__19 COVID19 coronavirus

Be thankful they have a job. Millions are about to lose theirs because if this almost non existent threat.

In the words of realDonaldTrump BBC: “YOU are fakenews”.

Just shows the propaganda a donation from a foundation can buy at the BBC

How on earth did they survive in April and May when hardly anyone wore them?

If you have a condition so severe that a MASK affects your breathing, then you shouldn't be going into shops in the first place for your own safety 😷

Yet the nightshift workers plus the hoards of on line shoppers roam around the store prior to opening virtually all unmasked and don't give a toss !!! ( FACT )

Many people are unable to wear masks for various reasons prescribed in law. They are not required to suffer to calm others' irrational panic. Your fellow citizens are not lepers. Don't fall for this nonsense.

The lanyard doesn’t prove exemption they were an initiative to quietly indentify those who may have special needs. However, COVID has well and truly blown any covertness out of the water because in many cases the meaning is diluted by those who have bought them off EBay.

Those exempt from wearing a mask do not need to demonstrate this with a lanyard. What this person is effectively saying is that they feel uneasy when someone with a hidden disability enters the store. is this the kind of hatred and discrimination you want to be sharing?

its bs, I at mo, am working in a v big one, and no gives a monkey. Begin scenes and when shop shut, all masks are OFF. SCAM, FARCE,

Get a new job then 👍

I do not need to have my card on a lanyard, why should I have to show people I have a hidden illness. This isn't Nazi Germany,I carry mine in my pocket and I will refuse to advertise my illness.🤬🤬

LIES

Get a different job then

Did they feel unsafe from March to July when masks were not mandatory? I never saw any staff wearing a mask during these months. It wasn't mandatory but many stores allowed staff to wear onea

If you can’t wear a mask then at least wear a face shield

That's not true though is it.

Funny, none of the shop staff I have encountered give a toss. DefundTheBBC

There were no staff masks during the main lockdown?!? I cheered for supermarket staff ... why have they crawled into a BBC ‘shell’ ,,.

BBC are a such a mouthpiece for the brainwashed. Truly pathetic.

Supermarket staff worked all the way through the scamdemic, I think they are preety safe.

todsa1412 Know how you feel, I have acute emphasma and I still wear a mask.

Hang on, shop workers weren’t wearing masks themselves until recently, even after it was law that their customers wore them!

Even if they are exempt, why not still wear them,it’s soo bloody stupid 🤷‍♂️

You mean two opinions, Aaron and Liv.

I'm seriously thinking of subscribing to North Korean state television! I'm led to believe there's more honesty! Improperganda

You managed to find the one Covid bed wetter out of all the staff that work in retail. Well done BBC. 🙄 And you wonder why the country wants you gone. James Delingpole’s solution is the right one - “Burn it to the ground and salt the earth”.

I feel safer just looking at this:

Why are they allowed in stores without masks? Bizarre. Here in my town in USA there are 18,838 people. 9 have Covid. Schools are open full time. Masks are required in all buildings. Period. Outside, its up to you. Seems like UK policies a tad crazy.

Exempt is not immunity; therefore always a risk as they are an unknown state as to infected or not. Being they have respiratory issues they are vulnerable in most cases so as not wearing a mask seems more likely they will infect. Likely food is contaminated; risk; highly likely.

I feel unsafe wearing the mark of an incoming authoritarian regime so you can suck it up fam. I do it for your freedom too.

Did they care about this before July 24th? If not, why not?

Bed wetter

Tbh I feel the same way as this gentleman. The main problem is these ‘none mask wearing exempt’ seem to think they are immune, they don’t social distance or respect others feelings at all. If you are exempt you are at higher risk so should keep more distance not less

Eminently qualified scientist..

Please do your job and ask some questions. Gov have now had time to gather evidence: That masks work That masks do no harm Why have they not done this or made it public?

Oh another article attacking people who don’t wear masks 🤔 I can see a pattern emerging . But let’s see how many people who have been tested positive but wear a mask ...?

You find some strange staff. I know a lot who work in them and also the delivery drivers. All of them think masks are ridiculous and waste of time. Trust BBC to spread misinformation. They have worked from the outset with no masks & not got it, they know!

Many of us feel unsafe when you do wear masks, when you’re constantly touching it and then you put your yucky hands all over objects without a second thought for anyone else that you might be a contaminant

That BRAINLESS 'JELLYFISH' PREACH UNREALISTIC BULLSHIT at THE MAJORITY without even bothering with REAL SCIENCE!! IT'S MORONS LIKE THIS that make me hate SO MANY PEOPLE!!

How does he feel about colleagues that have exemptions?

Where a mask, you,ll be fine

Poor little lamb 😢 What a load of tosh & discrimination against disabled people.. well done BBC, you’ve been reliably biased throughout this affair! Keep up the good work & enjoy your demise .... it’s coming👍TickTock PandemicIsOverUK

Go look for a new job then, if the sight of someone's face has got you so scared it's affecting your rational thinking. I suggest be a farmers hand out in the fields, or a national park warden perhaps?

medical conditions! ANYBODY/ESTABLISHMENT who does so SHOULD BE PROSECUTED to the HIGHEST LEVEL OF THE LAW!! Scared of a virus that is BASICALLY HARMLESS!! Having a at least 96.4% recovery! Even for someone over 70 & with MULTIPLE comorbidities!! THIS IS RIDICULOUS now...

More guilt tripping 🙄

Staff barely wear them. 🤷🏽‍♂️

They are lucky to still have jobs, stop moaning.

It's the same on the tube and there your stuck in a confined space with them. This morning only 10% of those on my carriage on the Central Line were wearing their masks correctly

I don't understand why the lanyard would ease your worries. People who are exexpt are no more or less likely to infect you. Just shows the feeble mindedness involved.

That’s coz yer a big Jessie!!!!!

'I've worked through the whole pandemic in a supermarket. At the start we were told we didn't need to wear them, so it's just a bit far-fetched for me now.'

PattersonCee1 People are exempt by law! This is pure propaganda

PattersonCee1 More Nazi style propaganda I see... Why are they worried now? After 8 months of this hoax!

PattersonCee1 I think that after 8 months, there's nothing to worry, clearly!

'If you see someone not wearing a mask, just mind your business. As long as you're two metres away from them, I don't see how it affects you.'

What difference does it make if they are wearing a lanyard? Surely if they had the virus a lanyard won't stop it. People need to wise up now and stop being afraid of other humans. This is an overblown flu for fuck sake

Crap

What about all those weeks before muzzles in shops were mandated. Did they feel queasy then? For goodness sake give up. You will be on wrong side of history KBF

I bet they feel perfectly safe though sat in the pub with their mates ! muppets

Who would have imagined that bbcnews would find someone so terrified of general life and make his views known to the nation? Fake propoganda nonsense.

I'm sorry, but we have England's CMO, his two deputies, the Chief Science Advisor, the UK Health Secretary, Scotland's national clinical director and Dr Anthony Fauci all stating, on the record, that masks don't work and are 'actually quite a bad idea' for those who are well.

Show him this. There's a second page if it will make him feel better. Honestly. Articles like this ought to be banned.

I work in a public facing role and I have not worn a mask since March. I feel quite safe just following hygiene protocols. I think they protest too much.

Does having potential customers stay away, go elsewhere, avoid the aggro and shop online at other stores - with the end result being he loses his job & his place of employment shuts.... does that make him uneasy too 🙄

Stop hiding behind the people who are abused the most by the governmental mandate! They should be allowed to chose how they work. Why would they be afraid? Their masks work, right?

Ask them to leave and don't serve them, simple.

BS !!!!

You've asked two people with opposing views yet deliberately word your tweet to make it look like staff are worried.

They didn’t wear them for months. Surprised they survived

Chill out whitty says you shouldn’t wear a mask if you’re not ill Vallance also said covid on death certificates doesn’t mean they even had covid Wake up 🐑🐑

Correct me of I’m wrong, but all the months of lockdown when supermarkets were crazy busy and no one was wearing a mask, I don’t think staff members were contracting Covid in great numbers.

Snowflakes everywhere and it is not even winter yet.

Why do we never have anyone on the other side of the argument shown on the bbc? Say a supermarket worker that has worked all these last 7 months with no or very few masks being worn and not being affected in any way?

Tough titties. Did you feel “unsafe” in March to July?

OCD. It’s become a mental disorder

People walk in wearing their mask then shorty after this, they pop their nose over the top or slide the mask under their chin or dangle it from one ear. I rarely go into a shop but when I do, this is what I see. The vast majority of people are selfish morons

‘Be more thoughtful’. Say that to an autistic child with sensory difficulties or a woman who was held down whilst a rapist held his hand over her nose and mouth!! Your inadequate & thoughtless reporting makes me so angry!!

I wonder how many of the mask wearing Zombies would be wearing a mask if the £100 fine was lifted, they are scared of of the fine not a virus.

So don't let them in Jesus!!!

Unless u have a learning difficulty of some sort everyone should wear a mask!...why would someone with asthma risk catching it?...half the staff in these supermarkets don’t wear a mask themselves, loads of customers who can’t be arsed!... asda especially

why not interview someone who is mask exempt? Ask them how isolated & discriminated against they feel. How they feel being forced to wear a lanyard - even though it’s not stipulated as mandatory in the govt guidelines. Do some balanced reporting for once.

I feel uneasy when staff are not wearing their masks, are chatting away to each other not 2m apart and leaning over me to stock shelves breathing all over me.

Some people can't for different reasons. If infection rates are going up, the masks aren't stopping it, are they.

Bit late now ffs

So what .... I'm sure there are customers who feel uneasy when supermarket staff are not wearing masks .... Many don't wear them .... Suggest they stop whinging

I'm more worried about the ones who do wear masks, for weeks on end, never changing them, then take them off at the till, lean around the screen and shout into my face before licking their dirty fingers and using them to separate the notes they then hand me.

Can you provide evidence of supermarket outbreaks please ? And the number of deaths of supermarket staff who contracted the virus at work?

promoting more mask wearing, utter rubbish. BBC propaganda

Regarding my earlier tweet Remember everyone if you see an Airbus A380 on the high street,on the fast lane of a motorway or on a country road, give it priority..or you might run over by it.the odds of it happening...are like catching or being run over by Covid19 in a supermarket

Give it a rest BBC it's BS scare mongering. Any wonder that people want to defund the BBC Bullshit Broadcasting Company.

You must be joking... supermarket staff havent been forced to wear masks for months while the rest of us did. Made no sense and now they complain about the reverse.

Where is the proof that these masks work!!!!!! There is no evidence!!! Even the packaging tells you they won’t protect you!!!

Got more chance of being ran over and killed so do any of these bed wetters actually cross a road?

That's a result of scaremongering and lying from MSM and our corrupt government.

Lanyards can be easily bought. The government should have insisted on exemption cards from the doctors.

The supermarket should give out masks to people not wearing a mask as policy. But not everyone will follow the guidelines.

Mask terrorism! They need their ritual, but not with me nor my loved ones!

So it makes you feel better if they advertise a hidden disability even though they are not required to. Why? Do you think they are less infectious.

Let’s crowdfund a trip to Ypres including a guided tour for Arron.

Really? Why? No one wore masks at the height of the pandemic, when realistically the disease was rife!!

How many supermarket staff:- A) have died of covid since March B) have been admitted to intensive care for covid since March Do your job properly

An antidote to the BBC's fearmongering anyone?

Obviously someone who’s exempt and wearing a lanyard can’t catch or pass on Covid.

defundthebbc

Pathetic.

This is blatant discrimination under the equalities act. People exempt from wearing a face mask (many due to invisible disabilities) do not need to wear a lanyard or be told they make others 'uneasy'. (I choose to wear a face mask in shops, this isn't about me). FaceMasks

I never see anyone not wearing a mask in a shop.

The fearmongering of the BBC and others is amazing me.

I feel reassured when walking into a shop and a member of staff is reminding people to anti bac and policing masks. I won’t go into shops if don’t see some sort of ‘alertness’. Same for restaurants.... i like to see a sign saying ‘no masks, no entry’....

Hilarious. Another parody account?

Why do I wear a face mask..? Control the spread? No, it's an ineffective way to control spread indoors. Keep myself safe? No, I never remember to wash it. Help environment? No, single use masks are everywhere on the floor. To get my Gregg's in the morning hassle free? Absolutely!

If they think their mask or others wearing one would protect them from a virus try working in a supermarket during an Ebola outbreak, my guess is they wouldn't last long, also as a point masks for shop workers only introduced very recently.

Funny how so many didn't wear them and still wouldn't be wearing masks if they felt they had a choice. This is all government propaganda tosh.

More BBC propaganda.

The Gates Foundation's £50m hard at work.

Uneasy my arse - Supermarket staff are not wearing masks

Your employer has a duty of care, if they are letting people in to the shop without a face mask the could end up in court.

Big wet turd!

Did they not feel unsafe during the peak, when they weren't masked up. I wonder how many were that fearful, that they decided to mask up from their own initiative. I'm guess non.

Rubbish To catch the virus you must have close contact for at least 10 minutes

If supermarkets make a decision on whether to sell tampons and don’t in some places in the uk for fear of falling foul of the law 😹then what’s got lost in translation in terms of wearing a mask? Which we are meant to do if we’re able.

Pathetic & sad

of course the lanyard dosnt mean they are not passing anything on...

Freaking snowflakes, you have a 99% survival rate of you catch it, the flu is still far more deadly, exempt people don’t have to prove themselves to you, they’re not wearing a mask for a reason.

Ha ha ha ha. What a load of horseshit.

You should

Fake news.

Oddly there have been no Covid outbreaks in any of my local supermarkets.

Propaganda or propabullshit?

Oh diddums

So why did it take for the government to make it compulsory before supermarket staff started to wear masks? In my local Tesco only a minority of staff wore a face covering before it was mandatory and that made me feel very uncomfortable

So what?!

If you are exempt from wearing a mask are you therefore more vulnerable? If so should you be in a store? Shop on line?

In my experience supermarket staff didn't bother wearing masks until they were forced to.

If masks were the answer then we wouldn't be seeing rising cases in Spain, where there are mandatory outdoors. They give people a false sense of security, less people washing hands etc

Easy problem to solve. No mask - no entry! Here in Spain I've never seen anyone in a supermarket not wearing a mask.

why you spent months at the height of this virus with no masks in shops, how many shop workers caught it from people shopping in their store

Eventually non masj wearee will have had enough of you lot. We will challenge you for wearing a mask all the time. Mock you. Riducule you. Teach you clowns its simply not acceptable. Dont think we will keep our gloves off to pander to your bull****.

Me too I run a mile

I've always been interested in what the rate of infections is in supermarket staff. They've been open continually throughout this situation, but only recently masks have become mandatory. Very few news pieces about outbreaks at these places.

In my experience rarely are supermarket staff properly wearing masks. They worked all spring without masks and essentially none of them got sick or died. They know they are pointless. I guess you found the one who was worried.

Funny how when their were no masks worn and we would have to follow arrows with a 2m distance employee’s would huddle round and speak to each other now they do the same but with masks🤷🏻‍♂️ dinnagiveusthatshite

Why does the fact they’re exempt make you feel any safer?

It's not my responsibility to make you feel safe. This evidently means you have no faith in the efficacy of your mask.

Lying scum. CrimesAgainstHumanity

Meanwhile, supermarket staff didn't wear masks whilst customers did, without effect. Use your brain. More scaremongering media lies.

Every time I walk in a store I realise how lucky I am not having a public facing job.

Consider this before thinking masks are the answer - pass infected person wearing mask, mask now infected you continue to breath and expel the infection through the infected mask. With out mask you would have only been exposed for seconds !

Fair enough

I’m in the shielding group, have returned to work in a supermarket after lockdown, I won’t be shielding again. I’ll take my chances and return to as normal a life as I can. We can’t hide forever.🤷‍♂️

Masks don't work

More good news please(((

Don't let them in then..

99.9% survival rate more risk of being run over.

Resign then.

You have my utmost respect. Stay Safe.
