The weather will take a turn

Brave yourselves for heavy downpours and strong winds as Storm Barbara sweeps the country from today.

But Met Office forecasters are still keeping a close eye on it and have warned the strength and direction of the storm is ‘still relatively uncertain’., rising to 80mm in mountainous regions.Meanwhile a yellow weather warning is in place in western Scotland, with a small chance of homes being flooded and lives being in danger.

Met Office meteorologist Frank Saunders said a low-pressure system, separate to Storm Barbara, will cross Ireland and Northern Ireland today, ‘bringing severe gale force winds to some exposed parts of the west and South West of the UK.supports HTML5 videoHe added: ‘As we look ahead to the rest of the week, we are expecting rain or showers for many areas on Wednesday, possibly heavy and blustery in the South East.

They say temperatures in October are likely to be normal for this time of year and that if there is any snow, it will be confined to the Scottish hills.
