The resurgence of the ‘can women have it all?’ rhetoric during the coronavirus crisis is tiresome, says writer Eleanor Margolis

Yesterday I cleaned the toilet, made myself an exquisite toast lunch, and wrote this article. Sure, I don’t have any kids. But I do have a demanding cat and – believe you me – on top of the career, housekeeping and culinary excellence, his needs were met. “What’s it like to be the woman who has it all?” I hear you ask. Spectacular. Eye-opening. Humbling.

nobody has been saying this. You can’t pick one nugatory article in the Daily Mail and pretend it represents a significant body of opinion. Not good enough opinion

Did you finish the hoovering and the dishes before writing this swill?

I think this has to be made up news. I don't know anyone who is interested in domestic bliss. Yes, a little extra time to do a more thourough job on the house is welcome but I would hardly call it bliss. Plus everyone gets involved, male or female.

Whose world do some of these people live in ?

“Eleanor Margolis is a writer and columnist at the i and Diva magazine”... and I’m afraid it shows. opinion

Boring ,boring, boring, blah, blah, blah.Give me a break.Women complain about everything that's not to their liking, right or wrong. No doubt there will complaints about this, even though it's true.

Far from it I'm on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

Almost all Guardian items re women are middle class whining ones who have never done a proper days work in their lives. Maybe you could just get off-duty nurses and doctors to write instead, at least they would be positive.

Never heard it said, must move in different circles. Just a clickbait headline.

Thought I was the only one thinking this. I am no domestic goddess, but I am blessed to be in a safe place w/ a family I adore 92% of the time & would die for 100% of the time& get $ to teach from a distance. My floor needs a good mopping, and the laundry needs folding.

“Stop doing this thing that’s not happening anyway” - lot of farmers working at the graun judging by how many straw men they cut down.

i've just hoovered the stairs and it was a pretty shit experience.

Because we aren’t expecting visitors anytime soon, (and we’ve been busy) the house is full of dust bunnies, fluff and grit. I’ll get the hoover out when it becomes a trip hazard.

Straw man cobblers

It's just the wrong-about-pretty-much-everything-conservatives lying through their teeth--again

I’m doing 99% less than I did before the virus because I feel it’s important to conserve my energy..

It was slavery.

Never heard about it, so should be easy to stop.

Who the hell was saying that in the first place

I've never heard anyone talk about this being a return to domestic bliss, I have heard plenty of people describe it as a boon for wildlife and the environment though.
