OKTOBERFEST, Munich's world-famous beer festival, is drawing to a close after another three weeks of booze-fuelled festivity.

Every year, more than six million people, including thousands of Brits, descend on the city to watch parades, listen to live music, and consume more than seven million litres of beer.Over six million people from around the world attend the festival ever yearCredit: Getty - Contributor The first festival was held in 1810 to mark the marriage of King Ludwig I to Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen.

It has since become the biggest such festival in the world and spawned similar events in and outside of Germany, including one in London. Among the crowds can invariably be spotted women clad in traditional Bavarian dress, posing for photos with outsize steins and pretzels in hand.
