The Labour leader insists he did not sack his transport spokesman for joining a union picket line.

Earlier this week, Ms Reeves gave an interview in which she said the party no longer backed renationalising the railways. Labour later clarified that renationalisation remained its policy.

"We are the Labour Party, the clue is in the name, we were set up by the trade unions - to penalise people, shadow ministers, for actually showing solidarity with the trade unions is wrong." On Wednesday, Mr Tarry gave media interviews from a picket line at London Euston station, in which he said he was "here as a shadow transport minister backing transport workers who are on strike".

He added that Labour would "always be on the side of working people", but shadow ministers needed to maintain "collective responsibility".

Making up policy on the hoof, is a Labour policy so what’s the issue? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Translation; he had a policy.

Keir_Starmer what utter crap ,he stood with true labour values, not like starmer a undercover tory ,time for a change before its too late

The living Hypocrisy

The only person from labour to actually make up a policy and they get fired

Right decision ,now move on we need to defeat this cruel conservative government

Policy? Labour? Whatever next.

Nobody lives in the same reality, for each of us, it's different. So many people vote for policies that reflect individual realities. I'm not a politician; but I trust Keir to make decisions that serve us all (not just me). Trust should govern; if war comes, we'll fail to unite.

Starmer Faces Backlash From Unions And MPs After Tarry Sacking Over Strikes“Labour is becoming more and more irrelevant to ordinary working people who are suffering,' said Unite general secretary Sharon Graham. Define 'ordinary working people', no longer blue collar v white collar or working class v middle class. Some in quite 'well paid' jobs by other people's standards, some struggle with part time work, some now retired and because of circumstances 'condemned' to the state pension. A party needed to unite the country and remove the present government, not a party that only 'looks after its own', as unions seem to be asking for, (that is what you have at the moment with the Conservative party), but a party that offers hope and a brighter future for all.

Unions react angrily to sacking of Labour shadow minister Sam TarryWas the Labour leader right to sack the Ilford South MP from the shadow cabinet after joining striking rail workers on a picket line. Of course not - labour should change its name at least and why is it okay that its a centrist party now? Moving so far to the right has plainly been remarkably bad for this country It might have been better for Starmer not to instruct his MPs not to stand on a picket line beforehand, but given he did, Starmer had little choice other than to sack him. He'd have looked really weak if he hadn't. Starmer has got this so wrong and he is going to see people leaving the about party in droves again starmer has no clue about public support for the unions. He got it so wrong he needs to go.
