A Royal Navy officer has urged that a Ukrainian family, who he took in as they fled the war in Eastern Europe, leave his home by the middle of July.

UkraineMaxim Hyryk and his wife Olga say they don’t know why they were told to vacate the two-bedroom bungalow where they have been staying in Fareham, Hampshire.

But three weeks ago he says they cut off contact and they were then told to leave the home by Hampshire County Council.The family fled Ukraine and say they just want to feel settled now ‘I contacted five local estate agents and when I told them we were a family of nine from Ukraine they just said “no” and put down the phone,’ Maxim told theHe said the family were confused and worried, adding: ‘Of course we are a little bit angry, but also very upset that they could do this. Kelly and her husband were so welcoming and made us feel this was a place where we could stay.

‘When we were invited by our host to come to the UK it was not an easy decision for us to make to move so far away, as having fled from Ukraine we were without money and savings.

Maybe they have been told that 4 adults and 5 children shouldn’t be living in a two bedroom property 🤷‍♀️

Maybe they can't afford to let them have the house anymore, seems a bit of a shitter to destroy the guys life for it, as you I take it you haven't asked him the reason
