First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has said any move to place restrictions on visitors from England to Scotland would be based on risk, not politics.Prime Minister Boris Johnson has previously called the idea"astonishing and shameful".The first minister said the UK nations need to work together on outbreak management in a way that"mitigates against having to put any border restrictions in place".
The first minister pointed out that in countries such as Australia and the United States, controls have been put in place to limit movement across state or regional boundaries.Ms Sturgeon said:"That's not political. It's not constitutional. It's just taking a similar view to countries across the world in terms of protecting the population from the risk of the virus."

Having seen today the 100’s of Camper vans and caravans travelling south through Northumberland I think Sturgeon needs to get a grip on the Scots who are clearly flouting instructions not to travel over the border. She will be to blame in Scotland for any Scots getting Covid!

How many tests are being done? It doesn’t seem feasible that “actual” infections are in single figures. Of course it’s a good thing if there are no Covid deaths but again how are they counted ...from or with? To compare countries it’s vital to know otherwise it’s meaningless data
Bit worried for Scottish tourism though. English and Welsh are the only possible tourist this year & I can see tourism and hospitality here really is suffering at moment🙄 Also giving unti-English impression(though she said it's not political) won't do well...
I think Sturgeon is making a political point, not really practical unless she can recruit and train a border force in a few weeks. She is using it to illustrate the difference in handling the pandemic.

There will be no border restrictions. The devolved administration in Edinburgh does not have the authority to implement them. If they try to do it anyway, I will take particular glee in flouting them.
