A deputy head teacher has been killed by cows while out walking.
Dave Clark was in a field off Hurgill Road in Richmond, North Yorkshire, when it happened on Monday evening. In a tribute, head teacher Jenna Potter said Mr Clark was the "heart and soul" of Richmond School. "Our thoughts are with Dave's wife, his children and wider family at this difficult time."The head teacher said: "He was an enormous character, a brilliant school leader and simply a lovely man who enriched the life of everyone he came into contact with, just by being himself and doing what he did every day.
Never walk through a field if cows have calves at foot, and be wary if you are walking a dog, best let the dog run free to safety. Cattle are gentle but protective. They will toss strangers in the air and trample them .

I have it on good authority it was manslaughter, there is only one reason he was out on the field at 1 in the morning and it was for cow tipping, but this cow defended himself and now he is blamed freemooey

Dog walker killed by cows. Why not mention that in the headline? He wasn't killed for being a teacher, he was killed for taking dogs into a field where cows protect their young.

Commiserations. I live in a semi rural area and i took this pic of cows being moved to another field while walking in August. I for one would like more knowledge of how to behave around cows.

Extremely sad, he was an incredible role model to all that he taught and was always someone to turn to. He will be missed by so many people, and has had a positive impact on 10,000s of children. My thoughts and condolences are with his wife and children, taken far too soon 💔

I've been very wary of cows for years since a neighbour was attacked by a cow and left for dead on a lonely road. Luckily she was found and survived. I never walk near to them especially alone. May this poor man rest in peace 💕💞🌟💞💕

I was chased by cows out walking in the spring, they ran upto me so I just kept calm and walked slow, I turned to face them luckily they all ran off, it’s a scary situation. I haven’t walked that route since, it’s more common than people think. RIP 😞
