This morning, Rebel Wilson was one of the most searched celebrities in the UK. Why? Because she’d posted a selfie on Instagram and as has become typical in the last year, that meant a surge in people talking about her weight-loss.
Almost immediately, ‘How did Rebel Wilson lose weight’ became a breakout search term under her name. ‘Mayr method diet plan’ – the name of the diet she supposedly followed in order to lose weight – was also up in search by 300%. We tell you this all of this not to share the information, but to ask the question: why is Rebel Wilson’s weight loss method still all anyone can talk about?
Yes, it’s fine to wonder and research healthy ways to lose weight, if that’s what’s medically beneficial to you, but looking at the sheer volume of these search results, the intrigue into her diet plan at the post of every single picture, it’s bordering on obsession., it’s far removed from what she’s actually posting. In fact, she’s generally stayed quiet about her particular diet plan.

The Mayr Method is also, quite controversial. We won’t go into the details, but reading the plan as someone who is acutely aware of how non-intuitive eating can turn into an obsession, some of the tactics used to promote ‘mindful eating’ were extremely uncomfortable. Nutritionists have agreed, with some likening some of their tactics to 'disordered eating'. Check out
