teamswiftparrot How about tougher powers to deal with polluters? Nah fuck that, sorry, ridiculous idea. Ignore me. Twat them kids and arrest them.

Just outlaw the group, it’s a criminal enterprise.

Not a single word of course about the rights of the public to be able to travel to work without obstruction I guess to some members of the legal profession selected groups and individuals have preferential rights (depending on social class)

Police always seek more and more powers in oppressive dictatorships. Militarisation of these thugs is why Tory ruined Britain is now Europe's North Korea dictatorship Police state. GetToriesOUT ExtinctionRebellion PoliceState Dictatorship

Tear gas?

Some kind of Freeze Ray? 🤔🤔

Oh but when you want a better deal ... your job is to serve the law protests are legal

Put them to work in the coal mines

Why do we need new laws to control protest? The ones that Thatcher introduced in the 80’s to control miners strike & new age travelers were quite draconian enough.

Preparation for a Tory autocracy is well underway. Parliament - undermined Police - under control Media - onside Civil liberties - about to be ended Workers rights - about to be ended Voting rights - curtailed The British public - sleepwalking into serfdom.

robevansgdn On what basis? They are already arresting them by the thousand so it’s not like they are ‘doing nothing’. Any new powers will not be restricted to XR but used on all peaceful protestors.

Still waiting for these folk to put out their ideas for exactly how the world can bring about the changes they are demanding, an estimate of how much it will cost, and what the consequences would be. At ths moment, it is just noise XRebellionUK

So there are no laws to stop people blocking roads and stopping people getting to work like standing on top of trains? NO LAWS Are you fucking serious, the police have lost the fucking plot in the UK, no credibility

Are they doing what they do legally? If not, you have enough power to deal with them already.

I'd rather suffer the odd disruption caused by protesters than suffer the environmental destruction caused by apathetic NIMBY couch potatoes moaning about them.

Peaceful protests should be allowed, but blocking traffic and blockading buildings is not peaceful at all The police should get all the mandate they need to restore peace when organized criminals harm ordinary citizens

They should be designated a terrorist organisation.

People have a fundamental right to protest peacefully even if noisy, and there are laws in place against blocking roads and preventing others going about their daily lawful duties and pastimes so why do the police need more powers ?

Of course they do. Can't have people expressing their fear and anger over the biggest issue around, can we?

They have the laws. Use them.

Concrete and coordinate actions in relation to the protection of the environment are necessary.

Fucking fascist assholes.

annoying doomsday cultists

Interested in the definition of the word 'peaceful'....

Yes let's have a police state. Bring on the subjugation of the people

Like the Spanish Police perhaps? Or maybe just set up internment camps to “rehabilitate” protesters? Then the academics. Chuck in a curfew and suspend parliament?

Police looking for extra powers to tackle the broccoli threat Tough on broccoli Tough on the causes of broccoli

Boy George?

Why is the question. Who is scared of peaceful protesters? Who indeed

Good. They are terrorists. DontFollowThePiedPiper

Your publication is an abomination on the name of writing/ journalism / everything else associated with what you do. How utterly tone deaf and corrupt do you need to be to produce the driver that you do. Talentless prices of dog shit. The world would be a better place without U

They should treat these terrorists as the commuters did at Canning Town station
