Police officer stabbed during knife attack in North London

Police rushed to the scene and found the suspect who ran from the officers.A taser was deployed and the man wasThe alleged knifeman remains in custody over the attack which happened at 1.15pm.Met Police confirmed the cop has been taken to hospital for treatment for his wound.The officer was stabbed in Hendon Way, North London

Chief Superintendent Roy Smith said: “This is another example of the dangers our officers face on a daily basis as they go about their duty protecting the people of London. “Knowing that there were reports of a man in possession of a knife, this police constable and his colleagues ran to challenge and apprehend him – these are truly brave actions.

“I have visited the injured officer in hospital and thankfully he should make a full recovery from his injury.” Taking to Twitter, he added: "Just back from seeing a very new officer at hospital who was stabbed in the arm responding to an emergency. Suspect arrested."He is in good spirits and I'm proud of him and his team."Some 149 people were killed in London in 2019 - 90 of them in stabbing attacks.
