Piers Morgan and Sir Alan Sugar end 'vicious' feud after public row

Last year, Piers Morgan was criticised by Lord Alan for comments he made about the Government's handling of the coronavirus pandemic

Last year, the Good Morning Britain host was criticised by Lord Alan for comments he made about the Government's handling of the coronavirus pandemic. And in his new column for the Daily Mail, 56 year old Piers, who has been replaced by Richard Madeley on ITV's GMB, explained that despite being convinced he was "100% right about the bust-up", he "began to miss the old goat".

When Lord Alan sent him a reconciliatory email, he couldn't help but jump at the chance of reconnecting with his longtime pal after twenty months of a public fallout.Piers revealed his email said: "Hi Piers, you had your opinion which I strongly disagreed with. It was difficult times, and the public were scared. Pot kettle when it comes to me being relentless, with your constant battering of the Government.

"But what's done is done, and it's not worth falling out over long-term, considering how far we go back."So, if it helps, I'll admit I was a bit strong, so let's drop hands. Also, the cruising season will be upon us soon, and we need to get p***ed at Club 55 again," the email was claimed to have read. headtopics.com

Piers said that he responded to the email by telling him he had gone "OTT with the personal, obsessive and nasty abuse"."I was only doing my job of holding the Govt to fierce account for the appalling way they handled the pandemic which cost many thousands of lives," he wrote.

"But I've almost missed you, and I've definitely missed Lady Ann, so let's put it behind us and bury the hatchet. Just let me know which part of your skull you'd like me to bury it in."Piers added that he was happy to move on as "life really is too short and fragile for petty feuds, especially with family or old friends."

In April 2020, Lord Alan tweeted Piers to criticise him over his grilling of Safeguarding Minister Victoria Atkins over her lack of knowledge on the government pandemic crisis plan, called Exercise Cygnus, as she appeared on GMB."You are an utter disgrace @piersmorgan I don't know who the hell you think you are on your self appointed tirade against the GOV", he tweeted at the time.

Alan then brought Piers' mother Gabrielle into the row as he asked: "I wonder if Mrs Morgan senior ( your mum ) is proud of you. You need help. You are a bully." Gabrielle replied to Alan's remarks as she insisted she was proud of Piers for his grilling of government officials on their reaction to the pandemic. headtopics.com

Lord Sugar then replied: "Well Mrs Morgan you are the only one he will listen to. He has gone over the top and needs a harsh word from you to calm down. The point is he is blowing into the wind. The Gov don't take a blind bit of notice of him. @piersmorgan".

In response, Piers said: "[If he] wants to spew constant repulsive abuse at someone for holding the Government to account for decisions that will decide whether people live or die, that's a matter for him and his conscience".
