'I never needed to be so mean or cruel' Blogger Perez Hilton explains why he changed the tone of his website

In 2011, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton met with an exciting new singer named Ariana Grande.

"I'd never put much thought into writing an autobiography before, because while I have this public persona of being extremely confident, I also am extremely filled with self-doubt, worry and insecurity," Hilton tells BBC News. "I get it, I'm not hot right now. I'm 16 years into my career. But while I might not have the heat of [TikTok star] Charli D'Amelio, who is the 'it girl' of 2020, I have a lot more to offer. I have a whole life that she hasn't quite lived yet."Hilton started his gossip blog from a café near his apartment in 2005. At the time, he couldn't afford to have internet installed at home, so he would use the free wi-fi at The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in LA.

"It was just mean, and so it allowed people to be mean." She suggested the"whole concept of trolling really didn't exist" prior to his blog. that year who had been bullied because they were gay. But when Hilton recorded a message of support for the campaign, he faced an immediate backlash.

This guy is still relevant?

BBCWorld Ok his whole 'mean queen' act was never cool, and I especially didn't like how he would dictate to everyone what was in or out when his own taste was questionable at best. That being said I can honestly say I don't even care to hate him tbph

He's an absolute douchebag anyway

BBCWorld What an absolute P.O.E.S.!

BBCWorld Never needed to resemble A young Herman Munster with highlights either but here we are.

Needed? No. Wanted? Definitely.

Who is he🙄

BBCWorld He made meanness, spite & nastiness an art form & profited very well from it. Now he has a book to sell. Not buying it literally or figuratively! The same characteristics are in Trump & a whole new generation think it’s cool to be as nasty. Nothing to admire or emulate!

aging rapidly & realizing the old schtick isn't as buzzbuzz anymore.

It a new Covid-19 symptom 'I think' overnight media are reporting my BAME friends hate me. Which was news to me so I asked them; they were as confused as I. When did this happen they asked? It was on the news this morning. Media hype is on the increase; beware.

BBCWorld Nobody cares

Is this News. Have the BBC mentioned PC Blakelock's anniversary today?

BBCWorld Money makes the world go round.

Never heard of the man🤷‍♀️

'Says man who built a career crudely making fun of celebs.'

Because being mean became less profitable

Who gives a fuck?

Once a c**t always a c**t!

And why are we bothered?

Still thinks it, cant say it.

So why should we care about this?

A disgraced bully that doesn’t deserve any attention or to be in any form of news.

Would he have said that if public opinion had swayed in his favour? I doubt it.

'I made my millions and alienated everybody, so now I need somebody to actually give me interviews or I won't have a website anymore'.
