The Jobcentre form encouraged people to put a ‘more positive spin’ on health conditions
She told Metro.co.uk that under the terms of the advice issued by the DWP she would be forbidden from revealing the condition to a potential boss. She said: ‘A lot of disabled people have taken this advice very personally. I’m fuming. Then the form was described as a guide to ‘how you can present yourself as someone living with a health condition in a positive way’ when applying for a job.Advertisement‘Equally, you may wish to avoid terms such as depression, ME, or low back pain etc and use more general terms such as low mood or a mental health condition, a fatigue-related condition, an ongoing pain condition etc.
‘For example, this might include things like flexible working, adjustments to shift patterns, or changing your working area.
Any description should be supported by medical records and how it affects your activities in a certain activity and if necessary repeat the same evidence in other activity areas. The effects of medication should not be forgotten. The advice is just that not obligatory
I assume it’s because there are folk in the world that play a broken fingernail like a fractured arm.
Well...sadly people are discriminatory
I mean it’s DWP it doesn’t surprise me, when I was unemployed Oldhams Job Centre attempted to sanction me twice while I was doing things to better myself to the fact that any “job centre” would do this. onlycareabouttargets jcp jobcentre dwp
Some of those words are used by the specialists in medical reports. I suffered disability discrimination on a cruise by a Brit woman who kept following me & shouting out I am faking being ill & how she is ashamed to be Brit bc of people like me. We live in a very ignorant era
