I'd presume the CCP saw him more as a competitor, someone who held enough influence to push them off their perch. Maybe China Gov should be paranoid. 1.398 billion people live in China but the unpopular CCP only has 95 million members. Do the math.

They probably just want his money and empty his bank account

hermanSpinhof the message is clear: only capitalists following the Chinese model (CPC) are allowed to continue, those who do not cooperate will lose everything

BBCWorld Good. More billionaires should be in prison. 25% of them at least.

It seems perhaps that the only reason Chinese billionaires stay there is that they’re prevented from getting their wealth out.

Lets hope with South Africa fraternizing with China that they don't pick up any of this shocking behaviour.

BBCWorld Surprised 😱

BBCWorld But he did a lot of crimes and your title is only leading to “outspoken”. Shame on your unprofessional attitude.

God awful country.

BBCWorld 18 years? They really want to set an example

BBCWorld this is terrible news

nice

Xi jinping & the communist party are simply seeing corporate Chinese billionaires as a threat to the status quo. And they must be controlled by using whichever means.

Make money quietly, nvr bite the hand that feeds u. These are basic rules, common sense

I understand many countries views on free speech are seen as disrespect when the individual looks to improve the condition for their country. China needs food so Zi don't understand why he would be imprisoned for trying to help his own country! Totally ludicrous!

住在中国的我,时不时的看着你们一群老外在那瞎说,也是挺搞笑的。

fuckchina

How sad

This isn't new in China. JackMa sudd went missing in Nov 2020 after he was critical of the Chinese financial establishment. Nothing guarantees the freedom of expression there. The same is replicated in HongKong where the press & people's rights exist at the mercy of CCPChina.

Of course US will not find the trouble of entrepreneurs, because US are a business.

Torys will do this for calling them names soon lies bby Boris etc

Where functional systems exist no one is above the law🤝

18 years. I mean the charge itself is utter bolloxs but 18 years. Ffs.

in china, we don't allow criticism against our party. so it is fair

China ain't got time for Clowns ✅

Sounds like he got arrested for talking, right? BBChina

Breaking News: China doesn't have a problem imprisoning billionaires.

Never trust the CCP in China. All the CCP in China wants is power and more power.
