Tennis star Novak Djokovic has lost his last-ditch court bid to stay in Australia and is set to be deported.
The decision has ended the 34-year-old's hopes of defending his Australian Open title and winning a record 21st Grand Slam."I will co-operate with the relevant authorities in relation to my departure from the country," he said in a statement.During Sunday's court hearing before a three-judge panel, Djokovic's defence unsuccessfully argued that the grounds given by the government were "invalid and illogical".
A judge later overturned that decision, finding that border officials had ignored correct procedure when he arrived, but the government stepped in last Friday to revoke the visa yet again.
Real__Robbie …..and rightly so.
Missed two shots…and he’s out!
Wrong discission by Australia government. They should be chance by Novak.
Good. Go home.
Why should Djokovic be treated any different to anyone else he thinks that he can travel the world unvaccinated and do what the hell he wants well it’s got to stop
Double fault by Novax Djocovid?
Australia is a LOST COUNTRY
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The end of the world, poor guy he only gunna make 10million💷 this year instead of 11million💷 howz he gunna cope.maybe his fans can ava whip round for him🤑
NOVAK out of Australian open after missing 2 shots
Game, set and match 😆
This proves the BBC are anti vaccine !!!!
He may be an above average tennis player but that doesn't mean he's immune to getting or spreading Covid. If he chooses to conveniently forget to report testing positive that should ring massive alarm bells. Australia was absolutely correct to remove him.
So good to hear why should he get special treatment when the ordinary man in the street would of been back home by now. Well done Aussies for treating everyone the same, wonder what the British Government would of done in same situation, probably thrown a party for him at no 10
Cry me a River. I'm waiting for a major heart op can't have it due to idiots who refuse the jab. Good bye to him.
Good
its mean Justice , aplause for the Australian Authoritys
Consequences. Good.
👍🏾
Perfect!
Good!
Good
good
Well done Australia.
Right decision, you can't expect to ignore rules just because you're rich and famous. All those supporting him would have been expelled without appeal and no news coverage, maybe they should think about that.
Good he did not follow the rules, thought they did not apply to him so now he has to deal with the decision! The person I feel sorry for is whoever now wins as idiots will always say they won because Novak was not allowed to play!
Yessss 😂😂😂
Who granted him Visa to come to Australia in the first place?
Excellent so he should, the man has shown complete contempt of the rules of another country and clearly broke isolation rules in his own so he clearly can’t be trusted DjokovicGoHome
Vaccination is majority backed he needs to accept his decision has consequences
Good
Well done- the law must apply to everyone 👏👏
Unforced Error.
Starting a band. Who wants to join? We're called....
In out get him out. These so called stars think there above the rules.
I do r even like the bloke but this is a fucking shambles.
Quite right too.well DONE Australia Novak has to realize ignorance is no excuse.the law is the law
Now he should be banned from all tennis tournaments until he gets vaccinated
Good kick him out, should have obeyed all the rules shouldn’t he
Excellent!!! The back door has been forcefully shut. No longer will we have to watch that loudmouth father comparing his son to Jesus Christ but tell dad to call me for advice as to where to stick his loud hailer. Come on RAFA, come on RAFA!!
At last a decision made for the majority.
From just abt every angle you look at this, it’s just a game.
Excellent. Please check his suitcase on his way out, we don’t want him to take a kangaroo with him.
