Poised on a bench in Washington Square Park, equipped with a pen and paper instead of the notorious ateliers that are so integral to the realisation of Haute Couture , Roseberry sits and sketches a fanciful world so at odds to the mundane hustle and bustle that surrounds him that it only elevates the 2D designs' hypnotic capability.
For this imaginary collection, at present, is in fact only that: imaginary. There are no billowing sleeves or explosions of tulle, strictly tailored suits or evening dresses consumed by surrealistic whimsymoving before your very eyes. There's no dress meets body, or body meets dress. But unprecedented times call for unprecedented measures.
From back-to-front denim paired with Bijony opera gloves to a draped black skirt held together by a dainty string of pearls, a portion of Roseberry designs will eventually come to fruition with the help of his ateliers in Paris. But until then, LOVE spoke to the creative director on his imaginary designs, creating in lockdown, and his artistic ambitions post COVID-19.
