The organiser of a protest against the government's controversial 1% pay rise plan for NHS staff in England has been fined £10,000 by police.Public gatherings are banned by coronavirus rules and police said most demonstrators dispersed after officers asked them to leave.Another NHS worker, aged 65, was arrested for failing to provide details after initially refusing to leave.
Supt Caroline Hemingway said that "regardless of one's sympathies for a protest's cause, we would ask the public to maintain social distancing and follow legislation". "We sought to engage with and peaceably disperse those attending this afternoon's protest, explaining that the gathering was in contravention of government lockdown rules," she added.
"Unfortunately officers were met with a degree of non-compliance and it was therefore necessary to enforce issue fixed penalty notices."
Restrictions on protest have nothing to do w/ preventing spread of CV, which mostly happens in care homes (through deliberate, eugenicist seeding of the virus) + workplaces (impossible to isolate on 100/week sick pay), they are to keep control over increasingly immiserated masses

The 1% is absolutely not enough, but organising a rally that is illegal and could increase the nurses workload. There are other ways to protest now, everyone should write to the PM and their MP, and if that doesn't do it, we can all protest in July safely.

Its a propaganda lie. She was NOT fined. Only a court, upon summary conviction can issue a fine. Police only dole out FPNs that are not lawful, or proportionate to the situation. It will get thrown out before it reaches court.
