A proposed 1% pay rise for NHS staff and the EU blocking the export of vaccines are among the lead stories.

The Guardian says Chancellor Rishi Sunak is under increasing pressure to provide more money for the health service after it emerged the government is only planning to give NHS workers a 1% pay rise next year. The proposal has brought condemnation, the paper says, with the Royal College of Nursing saying that nursing staff would feel they are being "punished and made to pay for the cost of the pandemic"."Insult to NHS heroes" is the Daily Mirror's take on the pay proposal.

It means it is the first country to use the bloc's new regulations allowing exports to be stopped if the company providing vaccines fails to meets its obligations to the EU.The prime minister has been dragged into the ongoing row over claims the Duchess of Sussex bullied royal staff, according to the Metro. Boris Johnson's cabinet secretary, Simon Case, worked for the Royal Family in 2018, when staff are reported to have complained about the behaviour of Meghan.

How dare they insult people by giving them 100% job security. Oh, and up to 40% of Covid infections were acquired in hospital.

I not had pay rise in 16 months and worked all through this ! did see soldiers in Afghan ask for pay rise !

If the NHS pay thing is suppose to be voluntary hey thanks for saving some lives. Don't know what else I can say but we realy did poorly across europe when it came to deaths hopefully our vaccine can save us. Enough said. Don't send covid patients into care homes

NHS workers should just be happy they've got a job at the moment. The UK is on the brink of economic collapse, and they're whining about a 'mere' 1% pay increase.

oh dear... NHS moaners again.... how many times do we have to clap &&& say thanks... its getting boring

1% seems fair in the current economic climate particularly as it's a protected profession and rec'd above inflation rises for many years. But their efforts should be recognised maybe by scrapping parking fees and the gov. paying annual registration fees?

OK you bunch of mithering Kaswendes do their job for a month even without the pandemic... Yaaaawwwwnnnn

If 1% is an insult, tell us what you would like.

At least NHS are getting paid as are BBC. So many are losing their jobs and businesses. Forced onto 80% pay or universal credit.

I did my research and I must confess, no one handles business like you do sir gigsfrid it my privilege to work with you.

How is it an insult? We are in an absolute financial hell hole and they still have a job and are getting a pay rise. Put them at the top of the list for when we get out of this mess.

Imagine putting insult in quotation marks. Of course it's a fucking insult. You can't go through a pandemic, have the PM himself saved by them, and then give them a real terms 2012-style pay cut.

horrible
