The deal follows 16 months of negotiations

The price of Kiwi wine is set to fall after the UK struck a free trade deal with New Zealand.

Tariffs will be removed on UK exports including clothing, ships and bulldozers, and on popular New Zealand imports including wine, honey, kiwi fruits and lamb. But according to the government’s own estimates, the agreement itself is unlikely to boost UK growth.Tariffs of up to 20p per bottle will be removed from wines such as white sauvignon blanc and red pinot noir But critics said the deal could hurt UK farmers and lower food standards.

Under the deal, New Zealand Exporters will be able to send 35,000 tonnes of lamb to the UK tariff-free for the first four years, rising to 50,000 tonnes for 10 years before quotas are removed altogether. ‘We will be opening our doors to significant extra volumes of imported food – whether or not produced to our own high standards – while securing almost nothing in return for UK farmers,’ said its president, Minette Batters.

Ships? What ships only ships this Government produces is HARDSHIPS.

Oh well at least there’s one small consolation to come out of brexit, some cheaper bottles of Savy B! Although I do suspect quite a few farmers might begin to understand how the fishermen have been treated and wonder what they voted for.

Great news for Winos very bad news for Britain’s sheep farmers.

Winning! 'Overall, only a tiny proportion of UK trade is done with New Zealand – less than 0.2%.'

A great brexit boon to the small percentage of the population who drink NZ wines. For everybody else - meh.
