The UK has had six prime ministers since 2010, and each has chosen a different lectern, perhaps reflecting their personalities. Sky News takes a look at all the lecterns 👇

It has been a year of three prime ministers, which means that for political anoraks, 2022 has also been a three-lectern year.It has been reported that each PM can order a new lectern, funded by the taxpayer, but that has been denied by Downing Street. It did tell Sky News, however, that lecterns are"routinely updated".

Rishi Sunak has chosen a"solid and stable" lectern, said Sky News's political editor, Beth Rigby - a symbol, he presumably hopes, of what is to come.Liz Truss's lectern had to be protected from the rain before she entered Downing StreetIn her first day in office, Boris Johnson's successor drove through heavy London rain on her way to Number 10. The lectern she chose - with a wavy,"Jenga-like" column - had to be covered in a black bin bag.

The twists and turns in the design ironically presaged the drama to come during her brief time at the top. The last six prime ministers - back to Gordon Brown - have each chosen different designs to announce either their arrival or departure from Number 10.Mr Johnson went for a lectern made from wood in a deep-ish shade of brown which a straight-sided column - something surprisingly unflamboyant for such a colourful character. And Gordon Brown went for something strictly functional on wheels.

It is not a"podium", by the way. A podium is the raised platform that medal winners stand on at sporting events.

I'm so glad you explained what a podium is and that they are not podiums, with a picture too to show the difference. I can now sleep 🥱

What's the problem, each one chooses the lectern that is comfortable for him.

They’re all wooden with varying degrees of stability. The lecterns aren’t bad though.

Did they pay for them?

What a waste of our money

Throw the old ones in the fireplace for heat this winter.

They look phallic to me

Is there a graveyard for lecterns?

Boris has a dark natured personality, Liz was abit twisted and Rishi’s looks like it’s from IKEA which knows all about avoiding paying UK tax

Sky have robbed the public for 30 years What's your point

Probably smarter than the people who stood behind them

This might be the most interesting thing about the entire history of the Tory party…

Jesus Christ. All the shit those 6 have put us through and you foxys on this.

Maybe they should be built using jenga blocks? 🙄

Yep and the tax payer has paid for all of them! 😡

The shapes (will) represent their time in office. Johnson: support base becomes increasingly narrow on the way down. Truss: extravagant and easily collapsable. Sunak: slender support all the way to the bottom.

Planks of wood all of them, and the lecterns too… 🪵🪵🪵🪵🪵🪵

Gordon Brown's was the best; adjustable, no-nonsense and easy to move. The others have been extravagant and cumbersome.

How about looking at how shite they all were at their job instead?

Totally normal country

Top news story this haha

The outgoing PM gets to take their lectern with them as a memento.

Wooden ones the whole lot of them

Never realised truss was a member of the church of unitology 👀
