New Covid strain WILL hit UK - warning as fears Britons won't follow restrictions
THE NEW coronavirus variant Omicron could hit the UK 'at some point' amid rising fears that Britons will not follow Covid restrictions if introduced to slow down the spread of the virus, a Government expert has said.
The variant has been named Omicron by the World Health Organisation, following the pattern of Greek code-names like the Alpha and Delta variants.Further, Professor Chris Whitty said he fears Britons will not accept new lockdown restrictions after enduring almost two years of the pandemic.
Professor Edmunds from SAGE told BBC Radio 4's PM programme: “We’re seeing cases cropping up elsewhere, in Israel now and in Belgium, that’s really very worrying."At some point we’re going to get this variant here in the UK, what are we going to do about it when we do get cases here?”

Dr David Nabarro, a World Health Organisation special told Sky News:"Most of the evidence that we've had over the years tells us that it's really difficult to keep viruses and bacteria out of countries through border restrictions. It just doesn't work."
Professor Sir John Bell, professor of medicine at Oxford University told Times Radio's Drive programme the variant is a result of the world being slow to get vaccines to Africa. He said:"We were pretty slow at moving on trying to get more people vaccinated, particularly in Africa. All the time we were busy... boosting six year olds and 12 year olds and 15 year olds, we were brewing up trouble in the developing world.

Nobody warned me drinks event was against rules - Boris Johnson
Dominic Cummings - who claims PM lied about lockdown parties - is set to speak to Sue Gray's inquiry.
It don't have to all you have to do shut everything down dammit Nothing gets In and out that's how you stop it I think it originated in fully vaccinated people All these new symptoms are related to the vaccines side effects ‼️ wake up guys, there is no new variant😂, they well know that vaccinated people lost their immunity protection already ,This is nothing else like human beings extermination ‼️, they’ve got blood on there hands …
All part of the master plan! Won’t follow restrictions? Finally starting to wake up. Probably already here with the government dragging their feet yet again with stopping travel. At least they are consistently bad at learning lessons. Bore off of course it will when let the worlds unwashed rock up on our beaches day in and day out
