New London bus safety measures after nine workers die after contracting coronavirus

The mother of a London bus driver who died after contracting coronavirus said transport workers are being put at risk

London's Mayor Sadiq Khan has called the deaths"devastating", adding that it was"really important we treat public transport workers as heroes".Signs are being used on buses to encourage people not to use seats near the driver Most buses in London have both front and middle doors, with passengers usually using the front ones for boarding.

Other safety measures being used across the network include introducing signs to discourage people from sitting near the driver and adding an extra layer of protection to the clear screen that separates the driver from passengers.

Any involve isolating the mayor?

Have we figures around those in the retail sector that have may have lost their lives to coronavirus. Also have these bus drivers lost their lives through working practices or from elsewhere?

Literally the one thing the Mayors need to do now is manage safety on their city's transport systems, but they're all failing, with Liverpool's Labour Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram blaming the Govnmt for not telling him how to protect his bus drivers! SadiqKhan MetroMayorSteve

Only allow people on wearing masks

Only now On Melbourne trams, the driver door and front row of seats has been kept closed, for several weeks

Not enough. MayorofLondon Tfl staff in all capacities that are still going to work to assist key workers need more committed action to protect them there needs to be black cabs used for NHS workers to get them off PT & limit the spread risk.

This will go down as a failure of Khan and TfL

This simply amounts negligence by the management. They couldn't think of supplying them with masks, not just one but several in a day.

Make the busses free seal the drivers cabin and pump in filtered air from outside putting the cabin under positive pressure.

RIP to the drivers but zero evidence the drivers sat behind a screen with no customer contact caught it at work. We don't see lots of Uber drivers dying and the are in very close contact with people many of whom are working in hospitals, unless it's not reported.

France has already ordered 2 billion masks for its citizens! Anyone can tell me why UK is always so behind other countries. Why UK doesn’t wanna learn from other countries’ bloody lessons but always tries to explore by itself with people’s lives.

Deepest condolences to the families.

why wasn't it done at the start. an investigation into the handling of the crisis must start after we the people have overcome and are brought to safety by the true heroes.

Tooooooo late!

No details on how these key workers families will be looked after, must be a widows pension worth something to take care of them its the very least the nation can do.

Despicable

The mayor has failed the people of London. I feel so sorry for them.

Do you have photos of them ?

EMPLOYERS forcing non essential workers to pile onto public transport EVERY day. ubi EMPLOYERS should NOT have the power of LIFE AND DEATH over workers.

Great sympathy for families and friends of transport workers. But . Were and how did they actually contract the virus. Surely a security screen would stop transmission on buses to drivers.

God rest there souls.
