There are concerns Love In The Flesh is 'ripping off' Love Island and 'puts the TV licence at risk'.

Julian Knight said: ‘The BBC appears to be chasing ratings for younger audiences here rather than offering its licence fee payers distinctive programming.’

‘It’s concerning that with all the resources at its disposal the BBC has decided to create a reality TV dating show that is set to rival ITV’s Love Island,’ he added.However, BBC Director-General Tim Davie, challenged the Conservative MP.At a hearing, he said: ‘I suspect it won’t be aping Love Island. I look forward to watching it.’

The BBC had a duty to deliver entertainment shows to licence-fee payers ‘but that’s not the meat and drink of the network,’ the Director-General replied. He added: ‘There are psychotherapists to make sure people are properly supported and thorough background searches.
