Netflix Squid Game schools warning sent to parents

A council has written to parents and guardians of school children warning of the dangers of "replicating games from the Squid Game programme".

The Netflix South Korean thriller series tells the story of debt-ridden people competing for a huge cash prize in a deadly series of children's games. Its popularity prompted Central Bedfordshire Council to email parents about "aggressive" primary pupils.The email said: "There have been some concerning reports recently about children and young people 'playing' Squid Game whilst at school.

"Squid Game is also being viewed via other platforms such as YouTube and TikTok, and given the popularity of the games in the show, developers have made various mini-games based on Squid Game on Roblox and other gaming platforms."

Most parents let kids play cand watch adult stuff

In my day we just played cowboys and Indians. Simple times. Games about gun crime, scalp mutilations and ethnic cleansing of the American First Nations. Nowadays it’s about awful stuff.

Is the warning not to let young children watch a violent TV show? So don't play red light green light and then kill the losers... Got it. Blimey just because mainstream media is shockingly boring and woke. They try to demonise a intelligent and engaging TV show.

I heard the local kids playing red light green light ,there was no gunshots so I'm guessing they haven't watched squid game ☹

Most of these are games children play. I played them as kids. We didnt have armed guard killing us when we lost. I would imagine the schools dont have armed guards

Even worse, people are picking up on the anti debt message and not getting into debt! The economy will collapse!

It’s a show based on playground games, I’d be worried if kids weren’t playing these.

Stop scaring parents that kids are playing, oh, literal school games... they go online and watch gaming videos shooting one another (which is also fine tbh) - good example of media whipping up nothing for clicks and potentially squeeze out more stories

I thought kids have been playing red light green light, crafting and tug of war for decades?

It's rated 15; the primary school kids shouldn't be watching.
