Film fans want joint release dates for cinema and streaming, Netflix boss says

More films will be jointly released in cinemas and on streaming services in future because of a shift in viewing habits, a Netflix boss has predicted.

"We've been supporting [simultaneous] release for a long time, [and] maybe shorter theatrical windows. So I would say we're enthusiastic to see a shift in enabling more and more of that", said Peters, who is Netflix's Chief Operating Officer. "After almost a year of being confined to watching movies at home, audiences are hugely excited about the chance to once again enjoy the big screen experience."The Covid-19 pandemic continues to have a huge impact on the cinema industry, with theatres worldwide remaining largely closed for the past year.

"It also gives each cinema operator the confidence to invest in further improving the cinema experience."

Has cinema had its day? I see no benefits whatsoever. Some annoying people chatting through the film, then they decide to eat. They then have to get everyone to move because they want to go to the toilet. The glow of the mobile screen lighting up the darkness.

BBCWorld Then most of the people will wait for the date on Netflix, which would be loss for theaters.

BBCWorld I owe you an apology to ever doubt your sincerity and professionalism. It’s was just like a dream to me when I received my first payment. After my second payment it became a reality now after several payments it has become a way of life. marksust7

Joint is too far. Streaming should be a month, preferably two behind theatrical release.

mrjamesob Per your chat about property managers wanting workers back in offices...

No we don’t, people who want films on in the background while they scroll through their phones want joint release dates

BBCWorld It’s not a vaccine! Watch it out and share it!
