Such a shame. I used to take my kids every year to do the egg hunt. It was one of the highlights of the year. The eggs are not very big and we tend to go to one egg hunt per year. It sounds a bit of an exaggeration to say it’s a health issue, especially after all that walking.

The nationaltrust AGM within the last year debated this. The trust board urged members to vote for a continuation which the majority did. Why a sudden U-turn? Take warning from recent political events NT board and ignore a democratic majority vote at your peril.

I feel this is a shame, the trail was fun for my children and the egg was just a small one, nothing to get up in arms about 🙄. My local national trust property was also noticebly far busier than usual when the trail was on.
So will there be the big slices of cakes be in their cafes? How about the fudge,chocolafe & biscuits in your shop? nationaltrust take note I suggest everyone boycotts their cafes & shops. We shall now consider ending our membership.
That's a shame. It gets kids into historical places and creates fun memories for them associated with that place! And it's only a once a year event, not as if National Trust are handing out chocolates every time they visit!

I think it's probably that the National Trust wants to discourage children from visiting its properties. I had memberships to NT and English Heritage and found EH much more welcoming to families. We need to stop children eating junk every day - not chocolate at Easter!

I've taken my children on these for a few years now and they're great fun. You run around with the kids, walk miles and have a little treat at the end. It's short sighted as the egg hunt introduced me to the national trust and I am now a member.
