I’ve just returned from a few days at a literary festival, brilliantly organised by the Municipal Public Library and the city of Sopot, a pretty coastal resort in northern Poland. Our panel, co-ordinated by the Academy of Ideas, featured one Remainer and two Brexiteers, whom the predominantly Polish and overwhelmingly Europhile audience viewed with a mixture of bemusement and suspicion.

The Person who said the EU safeguards Polish Democracy raised a very good point. Interestingly, Brexit has been the greatest threat to ours, as Brexiters have tried to shut down Parliament and remove the checks on the executive. Grant could have learned something here.
